I’ve been using the shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in spray as directed. It’s given me great results! I’m not sure why but my naturally honey-blonde hair had gotten a bit duller and darker lately (probably lack of exposure to direct sunlight as I’ve become something of a troglodyte) and I wanted it brighter but without risking a full-on dye treatment. I wanted something simple and DIY and hard to mess up. This system works, it brought my hair subtly back to the brighter shade I wanted. It washed out the red tones but I’m ok with that. Also, the products leave my hair silky soft, shiny, and smelling delightful! My hair is fine texture and this system doesn’t weigh it down or leave a weird film. Honestly I have nothing negative to say at all. If you’re looking for a foolproof at-home system to gradually and gently lighten and brighten your blonde, this is it!

I was skeptical if this would work plus I wondered if it would dry my hair out, but I thought it was worth trying based on mostly positive reviews. There are no regrets. I have strawberry blonde hair that darkens in the winter and lightens in the summer. I felt it kept my hair lighter in the winter with regular use and without any damage to my hair. There is a companion conditioner available. I haven’t needed it so far.

I like this big size bottle, it is easy to pump. My hair is getting lighter and it brightens my highlights.

This is the best shampoo. It is all I will ever use. From the wonderful scent to the texture of the shampoo it checks all of the boxes I require in a shampoo.It does keep my hair ever so lightened and works like a charm. It makes my hair soft and I'm almost sure it helps with keeping my hair looking dry and clean. Other shampoos leave my hair greasy or smelling weird. John Fried Hair lightening shampoo is your ticket if you just want to upkeep on your blonde or if you just want a subtle change. This stuff is magic! Now I can only find it on Amazon as my local stores don't carry it anymore.

I recently reordered this product, because I like the shine it gives my hair and the way it prevents the dull look that can develop with color-treated blonde hair. When I received the first reordered bottle, there was shampoo all over the inside of the box and on the bottle of vitamins that were shipped with the shampoo. I returned that bottle and was sent a replacement. Guess what, yep, same thing happened. Spilled shampoo in the shipping box. Both times lids were unscrewed and leaking all over everything! There was no packaging at all in the Amazon box, just the bottle of shampoo! No wonder it leaked….it had rolled around in that box for close to 3 days! Beware, do not order this and something else that might get shipped with it that could be spoiled by shampoo being splattered all over it.
