Awesome vendor, Awesome motor!
I did a lot of research before I bought my Bafang BBSHD kit (120mm) and the reason I bought from this vendor was the price and the ability to customize my kit to the exact components I wanted. I specifically wanted the 120mm bottom bracket model (for my Mongoose Dolomite fat bike), the 42-tooth chain ring, and the 500c display. The seller made it easy to order all on their amazon page at a great price and shipping was only $10. Shipping (via DHL) took 9 days to reach me from China and I could track my package internationally every step of the way. Seller gets 5 stars from me!The kit from Bafang was very good. Everything was packaged securely and arrived in perfect condition. It even came with a bonus headlight (special offer from vendor)! I had already watched numerous videos on how to install everything, so I was ready for the install and did not need instructions. There are no printed instructions or owner’s manual, but they do give you a sheet with barcodes to scan that link to YouTube videos on how to install everything. It would be nice if it included the required wrench and gearshift sensor, but purchasing these items separately seems to be the norm for all vendors. My only real gripe is the speed sensor magnet that goes on the spokes. The screw to tighten these down looks like a torx type, but it is not. It has the little nipple in the middle that makes it a security screw head. I am a handy person and have a lot of tools, but seriously, who would have this kind of specialized bit? I was lucky and found a screw that would work in my spare parts bin, but I am sure there are some users who would have to buy the bits or replace the screw from the hardware store. I also needed to customize my kit to fit my bike a bit. I had to shorten one of the screws and spacers, but I expected this type of thing from a DIY kit such as this. I also was not able to use the 42-tooth chainring that came with the kit and ended up buying the eclipse 42-tooth model from Luna Cycle. This was because I needed the maximum amount of offset to get the chain line straight. I really liked the break levers, which were solid and longer than the ones on my bike. I cannot rate the battery because I purchased mine from another vendor. Overall, I am very satisfied with this system and happy I purchased this item. I am able to cruise along at 23mph on flat ground in fourth gear and I am a very heavy rider. I will include some pictures ASAP. Wayne.

Great power, but a few flaws in manufacturing that could be detrimental someday...
First thing I noticed in installation is one of the screws that mounts to the bike wouldn't fit properly without a bit of brute force because the screw hole was machined too close to the motor, and I couldn't just redrilla new hole, so that was sad.... it might strip and fail and possibly even fall off in the future. Hopefully this company will be helpful to me within the next year of warranty if that happens! Secondly, it doesn't come with a very vital installation tool which includes an external bottom bracket wrench on one side and a lock ring spanner wrench on the other. I tried to mcgyvver this and improvise to tighten it on, but in the matter of 2 miles of riding, it is extremely loose and bangs up against the frame every time I throttle above level 2. Thirdly, the speedometer magnet comes with a screw that is one of those star screws with a pin hole in the middle... WHO HAS THOSE??? So I can't tighten it on properly without using some form of pliers or replacing the screw. So until I figure that out, its going to move and blow off in the wind, and once that's not reading properly anymore, the pedal assist feature doesn't work accurately either, because it relies on the speedometer primarily (no torque sensor.... yet mwahahaha)Issue number 4, is on the display: The 500c color display doesn't show the wattage meter properly at all... it sometimes shows like 26 watts being used when I'm full throttling, and sometimes 1200 watts... there's no real middle ground. Hopefully that isn't a wattage regulator problem and it's burning out my motor? PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF IT IS!!!All in all, these were really the only issues I've had. I think once I properly put the speedometer magnet in a permanent place, and get the tool (in a week or two because it ships slowwwww) to tighten the entire motor down to the frame, hopefully it will all work great and flawless! The only other thing that is concerning is it only seems to really pedal assist me up to 10 mph on level 1,2 and 3, and then only up to about 20mph on 4, and 5... I doubt this is normal? Hopefully this isn't a defect! Company who reviews this, please let me know if it is a defect so I can get it fixed before something worse happens! On the bright side, DANG THIS GOES FAST ON FULL LEVEL 5 THROTTLE! I clocked a top speed of about 33mph!

Takes the suck out of riding a bike uphill
Overall I am impressed with this ebike kit after 500 miles. I attached it (120mm model) to my Motobecane Lurch fat bike and it mounts easily enough though I did have to buy a Luna offset 44t crank to straighten out the chainline. The hydraulic brake sensors are useless so I just unplugged them. I live in the Rockies and my bar mitts would knock them askew just far enough that they would shut off power randomly. I wish the connectors were a bit more weatherproof and that the battery teminal faced down or had a cover so that snow did not accumulate in it when I bring the battery inside. The power settings are a little wonky. on the 1-9 scale, settings 1 and 2 barely overcome the motor's resistance so 3 is about as low as I have it set. I ride my bike far more than I drive and it is super convenient to ride it to the ski resorts and to trailheads. This means in covid times that I don't need to ride the bus and I always get upfront parking! I am curious to see how long this works for.

Whoah! What a beast!
I ordered the Bafang BBSHD 1000watt, 48v motor. I was nervous about ordering something this expensive from Amazon - especially from somewhere so far away but it arrived in 3days!!! Bonus! I think it came from a port in the UK?I’d already ordered my battery from a shop in the uk. My battery came with an xt90 connector whereas the Bafang came with the red and black ‘Anderson’ connector so I had some splicing to do. No issues there. The battery is a 48v 22Ah and is big. If you’re fitting the type of battery I chose, consider whether it fits easily to your frame via the bottle cage mounts as mine didn’t line up. I ended up getting some strong metal jointing and drilled the holes needed. I mounted this on the frame and bolted the battery through that. This wasn’t easy and caused me a headache!Phase 1 complete.I have hydraulic brakes on my bike so after ordering (before dispatch!) I contacted Junsport and within the following day I had a reply. I didn’t want the cable or mechanical, cable operated brakes that came with the kit so changed them for the hydraulic brake sensors. Not a problem. Very good communication I thought. Again, being nervous about a purchase like this out my mind at rest after this.Phase 2 was a dry fit of all the parts. Obviously, you could chuck this together in a few hours but I wanted it as good as I could get it so took my time.I fitted the motor into my bottom bracket shell after removing my crankset. It’s important to ensure you order the right size motor otherwise it will be too wide to fit in your frame. I ordered the 68/73mm size. The next size up is 100mm and its for a fat bike! It came with spacers and as mine is an aluminium frame, the chainstay tubes seem to be wider (and probably to accommodate a huge tyre too!) so the motor fouled on the frame. I used the spacers to fit the motor accordingly as per the guide. As for the guide, it came with a leaflet which contained QR code’s dependant on which motor you chose. The wiring and connections however are so easy to join up as they are matched with arrows and by plug type so if you get that wrong, you should really be paying someone to fit it for you.Battery in/on, motor in, wires connected on to phase 3.I realised when it all came to life that upon turning the pedals, when you stop pedalling, the motor stops. As I didn’t fit the throttle and wasn’t planning on going crazy on it, I took the decision not to fit the brake sensor cables either. I wanted to go for a minimal look too. This meant that I have the cables from the motor to the battery, into their plug and up the seat tube away from the debris of the front wheel and only one cable across my top tube. I taped up the gear sensor (bought separately and might take back off yet as I’m not convinced yet) and wrapped both that wire and the power cable up the seat tube in road bike, carbon effect bar tape. I started at the bottom bracket so no water went down into it because of the way it was wrapped if that makes sense.I had a frame bag which I’d made a hole in for the wires and put them all inside it to hide all of the plugs from the display. I used it for the unused brake sensors, lights and heads up display plugs. It looks so much neater and I have somewhere to keep my phone!Having never ridden a Bafang before, I didn’t know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. It has so much power and I’m not a skinny little chap! I know the golden question is about how far you can go on these and my answer I’m afraid is as vague!! It depends on so many variables like bihh my weight, rider weight, tyre type and terrain type. It depends on your motor and battery too obviously! If you have a powerful motor and small battery you can go figure the rest. I tried to order the best of both according to my budget. In hindsight, if I ordered a weaker motor, then I could go further?! Who knows! All I do know is, I took a long time researching this and I’m happy with my choice. Yes, it’s a 1 year warranty but so does everything nowadays. Your £1,000 telly for example! That said, there is a whole community of bafangers out there only to happy to oblige and YouTube is brilliant for guides on how to take these motors apart and service or replace parts. Every single part is available as a spare and is sold separately and there are more Bafang specialists popping up around the UK so I’d say go for it! I have ridden top end, eBikes, and the purists will come criticise but I’m happy and glad in a way that being the handy type, I can even fix my own bike if I needed to instead.I love it! I hope that my review helps you to decide too.

Falling back in love with cycling
The media could not be loaded. Well put it this way, I have fallen back in love with cycling, this kit is amazing. For one of my jobs I needed to take public transport, so my only option was a folding bike or a scooter, but not wanting to be reliant on just electric power alone I went for the folding bike.Being a bit unfit I was looking for an electric bike, but thanks to the Amazon recommendation algorithm this Bafang BBSHD came up, after looking at a few reviews, then watching some video reviews, I went for the 1000w kit, "bigger is always better right" well in the case of this kit all I can say is miles of smiles. The kit comes with the bafang tool so don't do as I did and buy a separate one, depending on what kit you ordered each bit comes neatly packed, the motor itself is in very thick polystyrene, so I was very happy that it wasn't damaged in transit. The battery is heavy so comes in a separate box, with keys, manuals mounting kit and the correct lithium battery charger.I Went for the 48v but if the 52v was available I would have gotten that. The motor kit comes with a pedal removal tool, but you'll still need a tool to remove the bottom bracket, most bikes have a generic tooth pattern so any off Amazon should fit, if you have a more specialised bike, just check with the manufacturer or a good bike shop to find out what one you need. The kit does not come with any instructions of how to fit it but they do supply links via QR codes of videos, it's quite simple, especially if you have watched a few how to videos on that well known video sharing platform.Simple hand tools will be needed too, like a cross head screwdriver and a 5mm Allen key, I also used a small torque wrench (I just like being safe) to make sure everything was done up at the same rate, but that's not really needed.Because I was fitting this kit to a folding bike I had to do a few mods just to make sure that the bike still had its folding ability.Starting with the battery, I placed it on the middle fold bar so to spread it out rather than putting it on the back rack, this helps keep balance and handling of the bicycle. You don't need to fit the optional light but I like it and the extra weight isn't really that much. The cables supplied are of a good length so cable management may be a bit challenging but a neat installation can be achieved, and once all fitted I install the gear sensor, which is a must if you value your chain. That battery comes with a small amount of charge which is just enough to do the settings on your bike computer, style variable depending on which you choose. It's quite simple to change from KPH to MPH, double pressing the 'M' button brings up the menu, and it's quite straight forward from there. You can set a pin so that nobody but you can power on your bike a ride off, they can still cycle away but under their own power. When in the Advanced settings you will need to set your wheel size so that the computer can calculate the correct speed, then it is a case of getting on and going.I would say just throw caution to the wind and go full throttle, but if you do and your gearing is set correctly for what you want I would say wear a safety helmet. So of course after all that you wanna know how fast you can go, well that depends on the laws of your country, but hey why not just have a cheeky blast.OoommmGgg I'm over taking cars like a mini Tesla then with a slight decline I'm hitting cough cough MPH, according to the bikes on board speedometer and going that quick might bring you some unnecessary attention from the boys, and girls in blue, so be careful. The pedal assist is amazingly smooth and if you want more range I would recommend putting some effort in. Hill's what hills you'll be going up them like a pro athlete, but as you get fitter just reduce the amount of assistance you require and before you know it you are getting up those hills with little, to no help at all from the motor.Would I recommend this, absolutely even if you use your bike for fitness, this will help you gain that confidence. One thing to note is that your bike will become heavy, but manageable. So dust off that old bike and go electric with Bafang on Amazon.

Great product
Great people to deal with. Junstar communications are amazing and they sent me a missing part of the kit no problem. The product? well..... I'm reasonably practical but definitely not a mechanic!! Youtube helped me a lot and the build probably took me about 5/6 hrs total ( but I am quite fussy about getting it all tidied away) The result is awesome!! Would I buy it again? Probably not....I just got carried away so bought the big one lol Unless you are a very serious uphill rider then probably 500/750w is more than adequate, this has 3 levels of assistance and no 3 is plain scary! Bear in mind that you will probably need to spend another £60 on an offset chainring and I can easily see having to spend £50 on a reinforcing arm( they seem to have to come from America ) and then quite possibly £30 on a bafang tightening arm (the supplied tool is too flimsy to get the bottom bracket tight enough to deal with the huge torque) Just me trying to be honest. The product is fabulous, huge fun, havent stopped smiling on the bike since I fitted it.

Fantastic
I would scoop out a kidney with a spoon in order to get another one of these if I get another bike for the misses. If you don't know anything about bikes then it could take a whole day to fully set up.If you're experienced then a couple hours at most. You must have a bike tool set.Once set up you should cable tidy it neatly so cables can not get caught.I would suggest buying a new chain and maybe some new gears if your bike is old because the power and speed this puts out is immense.I used to walk to work and it took me 27 minutes if I walked fast.A bus on a good day would be 20 minutes, 35 on a bad day. With a push bike around 15 minutes. With this motor, under 7 minutes. When you push that thumb throttle the bike takes off.The motor and battery will add a lot of weight onto your bike. So think about that if you carry your bike up stairs. The set is expensive, but I believe it's worth every single penny. In less than 18 months the motor would have paid for itself from the money I have saved by not using public transport.
