IMI Inspector Alert V2 Geiger Counter

This Geiger Counter did not accurately measure compared with my own Geiger Counter.

For my purposes, I didn't like it. First, I read the book, but still wasn't sure I was using it correctly. I wasn't even sure what a 'good' or 'bad' reading was (I sort of figured in the absence of a lot of clicking sounds, it wasn't too bad, but I'm not sure). And it's bigger and heavier than I expected. I was paranoid about touching the 'tube' to anything as that is apparently a bad thing...so I didn't know how to even set it down properly. If I were to do a timed test (which is one of the reasons I chose this one) I don't know how you'd even do that...it certainly won't sit or balance nicely over the object you want to test and I don't want to get into building little racks and things... In any case, I'm sure it's a good unit, I just want something smaller and simpler...and easier to toss in my purse and take to the store to check on produce, etc. so I will keep looking...

Expensive but excellent

I highly recommend the Inspector Alert V2 Surface Contamination Meter for personal use. I’ve been taking readings for a couple of years using an older model and have been using the new one as well. My interest came from living on the West coast and my concern of radiation coming from Japan after the Fukushima nuclear power plant meltdown and it’s effect on my grandkids, the air, sea life and beaches. The new meter was easy to learn and I take daily readings of counts per minute and record it in my log or on Safecast.org, a group in Japan who is keeping a data system on line. This is for base line data so we can tell if the radioactivity from Fukushima is rising. So far, it’s a stable reading in my area. I can also scan areas I may be concerned about like at home or while traveling. It's lightweight easy to carry and one of best in its price range for accuracy.

This is a very solid, efficiently designed and robust device, and very reasonably priced for the exceptional reliability it delivers. It is able to detect alpha, beta and gamma radiation, clearly displays counts per minute (CPM) and allows for timed data collection. I greatly appreciate the confidence it ensures for me and family, to know what invisible dangers we face at home and in our daily environment. To navigate a world with increasing radioactive contamination from the Fukushima disaster, as well as other sites of ongoing nuclear risk, requires that we start learning how to measure what we need to avoid. Purchasing an Inspector Alert V2 was a smart first step, trustworthy and user friendly.

This device is user friendly and easy to carry when traveling. I take weekly readings in Oregon as a part of a research project collecting data world-wide. I would recommend this product to everyone. I believe it should be in every emergency tool kit.Thank you International Medcom Inc.

Great product. I've used it to measure counter samples for my kitchen and my neighbor's Fiesta ware. It's easy to carry and the 'pancake' back is essential to get a good reading.
