Raid Roach Traps
For the first time in 30 years, I had a roach infestation in my apartment. These traps, plus Raid spray, helped wipe out the roaches. These traps trashy neighbors moved, and that helped the most.

Good for prevention, on it's own won't clear up an infestation.
This is a decent product and has been happy with it in the past. It's a quick, cheap, and easy way to kill or prevent roaches (specifically I believe they're considered German Cockroaches, which we just call roaches in the major North Eastern US city where I live, while those big ones we call water bugs. These traps are not for water bugs, they wouldn't even fit inside to get the bait). The poison used here is avermectin. The "egg stoppers" are (s) hydroprene, a substance that stops their young from properly developing their reproductive systems. In general, both are designed to attack systems unique to insects and are relatively harmless to mammalian biology, making them safe around humans as well as our dogs and cats.Regarding the regular trap: It says on the package this will last for six months, but in my experience with all products like this, it's really not more than a month after opening that they start to loose their effectiveness. I like to write the date on the bottom of each trap so when I find it later I know exactly how old it is. The bait/poison inside dries out rapidly and eventually no longer attracts the insects. Roach gel (the ones sold in a tube) dries out even faster and is much harder to deploy and (especially) clean up, which is why I prefer this design even if they're slightly more expensive. I also like the see-through top that allows you to view in the inside of trap. For me, unfortunately, this just didn't work. The infestation was beyond the point where this would have any meaningful impact. If you see one or two roaches, this is perfect. If you turn on the kitchen light at night and it looks like you flipped the lights on in a roach disco, you're going to need something stronger! If, like me, your roach population is so dense that the roaches vote Democrat -- your problem is bigger than a few simple traps of any type will be able to solve.I think these types of products are more effective at preventing an infestation than actually combatting it.

Didn't work.
I really don't think these worked at all. We ended up using borax powder which did the job. Living in Florida the bugs are insane. I was hoping they'd work.
