Disappointing conclusion and annoying dumb characters
Personally I went with the split version of Under the Dome as I didn't want to haul around the full paperback version. I much prefer the regular sized paperbacks as they can fit in the backside pockets of my jeans and are in general easier to travel with. That said the people complaining about it being split into 2 segments and sold individually should've done their research. A lot of complaints about the book being more expensive this way and Stephen King making a mint off them, but when I bought them used I ended up saving money by purchasing parts one and two.Anyway on with the actual review of Stephen King's Under the Dome. I really liked Rennie and Barbara throughout the course of the book and disliked Junior and some of the secondary characters. My gripe was that all of the characters were as dumb as mud and they had the "hickish" accent that totally doesn't fit the time period. In terms of secondary characters, Stephen King went overboard and included way too many. I get the idea that he wanted it to feel like an actual town in the book but they ended up being too much filler than anything. Speaking of filler, there is a ton of filler. The book is supposed to be edited but there definitely could've been a ton of useless material that should've been excluded. The ending itself will probably anger a lot of people. It was bad but not too bad in my eyes. What happens to Rennie in particular was the most disappointing part for me. Also Stephen King does some head scratching things to the secondary characters in the last few chapters of the book that made me question why he put them in there to begin with. Overall, the ending fell really flat and it felt like Stephen King didn't put much effort into it really. Either that or some major segments got edited out of the end for some reason. The end just left me wanting more. There are some pretty graphic segments in the book so I wouldn't be too thrilled giving this to teens to read. With everyone raving over this book and having mixed feelings toward the television show I felt obliged to finally give the book a go. It definitely wasn't Stephen King's best but it got me in the mood to go back and read some of his previous novels like Cujo, It, and The Shining.

Part Two
After reading these reviews I'm shocked! All of you readers (reader being the word) can't you read book descriptions? I bought part one knowing full.well it was the first of two part story. Other Stephen King books have been more than one part. The Green Mile was originally sold in several short parts. What's the big deal? Either you liked the book or not. If you feel cheated it's your fault not the aurhor. Next time read what you are getting. I've been reading Stephen King books over 35 years now. To say this one is as good as The Stand is misleading. It's a good story but sort of drags on and probably could have been written in one book. The second book tells rest of story. Of all Stephen King books I've read this one ended in a way that was very disappointing. This is the only one of author's books I wouldn't give a 4 stars. Except one other, non-fiction titled Macarbe or something it was the author talking about writing books only it was so boring I couldn't finish it. This is good but certainly no The Stand that was a once in a lifetime book. I've not seen TV series but reading about it looks like the characters from book were moved around for TV. Most books made into movies are very disappointing. This book is essential to know what happens after reading first part. It was sonewhat dissappointing not up to SK normal 4'stars!

Great book. Very poor condition.
Sold as 'like-new'. One whole chunk of pages wasn't even attached.

Admit it! You Thought it was Your Lucky Day!
My first clue should have been a pre-release that goes direct to paperback. My second clue should have been the absence of media fanfare. My third clue was definitely when I saw that the descriptive paragraph on the back cover could have benefited a little from one more trip to the proofreader. Still, I had to start reading the book for it to dawn on me what I had bought. Since I pre-ordered it, no reviews were yet posted. Yes, I checked. And there certainly was no clue in the product description. I know, I know, Buyer Beware, especially on the internet. If I had spent several minutes researching this, I would not now be the owner of a book that I can't even give away. ('cause every SK fan I know already read the whole thing a few years ago.) I have been with Amazon since the dial-up days, and really, they have always stood out for accurate, useful descriptions. Especially of books. How hard would it have been for a sentence explaining that this is the 2nd half of the original book? I think it would be lovely if Amazon offered each disappointed customer a few bucks off a preorder of the next release (this summer! yay!). But then, I think a lot of things. If you have indeed only read the first half of Under the Dome, you are welcome to have my copy of "part 2".**UPDATE** Amazon, Thank You!!! There is now a sentence explaining what this book is, and they made it clear and hard to miss! Gotta love a big company that responds to customer feedback!

Obviously I didn`t read a previous reviewers remarks on this ...
Obviously I didn`t read a previous reviewers remarks on this correctly ,but this part 2 is basically the 2nd half of the original novel. Someone had said on reviews that it is a bit cheeky doing this as it is not a new part to the story, but for some reason the publishers have decided to go ahead with this. Beware `Under the dome 2`is the same as the 2nd half of original book. That said , the quality of item and seller`s delivery were top notch. shame about the outcome.
