The blank arrived as described, and undamaged. It's attractive looking and pretty easy to work with. It's formed in 3 layers with cream on the bottom, a black center layer and the pearl top. If you've got a 45 degree router bit and a template you can easily get a good edge pattern out of it.For an added touch I used a 'stained glass' type of blue spray paint and some masking to add an additional pattern to the pick guard. The material accepted the paint well and the pearl pattern showed through the translucent paint giving an interesting effect to the pattern.

I wasn't able to find a pick guard for a Jr Strat by Harmony so I decided I'd make my own. This is the first time I attempted such a project and was very surprised with the thickness of the material. I have enough material to make a second pick guard and I have a Great Nephew who turns 5 next year and I have more Jr Guitars I can rebuild.I would purchase again although I may look at the 3 and 4mm thickness as this 5mm is almost too thick.

Material I received did not look like sample displayed in listing - The tort swirl is much smaller than traditional tortoise material and also its a bit green. Not yellow or amber, but green (photo w traditional tort pickguard). I could live w the off color shade but the swirl pattern is so small it just doesnt look very good. It looks more like mottled plastic than natural tort. Usually 3ply tort material is realistic looking but this material's odd pattern makes its fairly obvious the material is fabricated w photo-repro plastic.Also this material is very thin. I dont have calipers to advise precise thickness, but it's so thin it sits below the various metal plates which go along w finished pickguard.

I built my own guitar and actually used this piece as a routing template for the pickguard. I laid this on top of a sheet of white pickguard material and cut them both out to shape. In order to get the slanted edge showing off the 3 ply I used a router, which is impossible for to do well free hand. So I kept the other pickguard attached on top of this one and let this be the template that caught the bearing guard on the router. In hindsight it wasn't the best idea but I wasn't decided on which color I wanted for the pickguard that way I would have both choices.Although this isn't the one I chose to keep on my guitar, it was every bit the same quality as the other piece which was from a different brand.

I have a guitar that doesn't have a standard pickguard, so i figured I would make one. Great material, the pickguard came out pretty good. Used a jigsaw then cleaned it up with a dremel and sand paper. I would buy again.

Nice and thick, easy to work with on scroll saw and router. My new pickguard came out great, and there’s enough material left to make another.
