What is the difference between ro65n and ro12n?

The only difference between the two items is the size of the containers. The RO65N is a 76 ounce container, the RO12N is a 22 ounce container. Thanks.

Do the instruction describe how (and how much) to dissolve in water before adding to the brine well. I'd rather not add as a powder.

Yes the intruction tell you how to and how much. I do not remember initial amount(1st time use), but I'm using 1/4 cup for 40 lbs bag of salt. Works great.

They have the exact same list of active ingredients in the exact same ranges (see below) The overall percentage could vary somewhat, but I would imagine there is virtually no difference in these two products. Over the years, have tested my hard water for iron 4-5 times and never found any. Any reason to use this stuff?

If you don't have iron ppm on the water from your source...no. People on well or city sources with high iron will see sinks and whatnot turn orange. That iron fouls the softener media (assuming they have one) overtime and this works good to "clean" it. Like the green bag of salt just in high concentration for the cleaner
