This is NOT a 30x magnifier. I reckon it's more like a 2x to 3x one.I'm returning it.SCAM, DO NOT BUY.

I had to get this as my 2x one just wasn’t strong enough magnification. This brings tiny words into big so I can read them (god I need glasses).The BadIt suffers quite severe barrelling.It’s got a lot of purple fringing around words.The GoodHuge magnification.Price (cheap for this magnification).The LED’s around the edge light brilliantly.Sharpness is ok at best.It’s ok for reading with or trying to see a splinter in your finger. But if you need real sharpness best look at something else.

Bought as a choice balance between quality and cost, this magnifier has not disappointed. It has a decent sized magnifier, meaning I can see sufficient print at one glance, rather than tracing along the line. The illumination is bright and clear, gives an even light and does not disturb my eyes - given this device is not used continuously for prlonged periods. The weight of the larger lens and the batteries in the handle mean those with a weaker grip might find it heavy to use more than occasionally. It also has a setting for a single, small blue light - I have NO idea what that's for!?

This is a really nice looking product. Comfortable to hold, well balanced and feels quite sturdy. The illumination is by white LEDs, all around the outer ring, so is very bright but not really needed under good natural or artificial light. Just one little niggle that stopped me awarding five stars overall. The light switch is a three position one where the completely off position is in the middle of the action. Switching it to the lowest position which happens to be the logical choice for "off" leaves one blue LED illuminated. Annoyingly, the switch is on the face of the handle away from the lights which means the blue light cannot be seen unless you turn the unit over to switch off. I assume leaving it on will drain the batteries more quickly if this little light is left one, though it shouldn't make a huge difference.

It isn't by far magnifying 30 x, it doesn't even reach 10x. The glass is so thick and convex that there's almost no surface left to view. I have an old magnifyer of my grandmother that works 10x better and doesn't need batteries! All in all, don't buy this.

The lens is optically poor, second light is u/s, no polarity indicator for the battery, pos use as paperweight.

On a whole its a really good product. I bought it for my mum and it helps her read, Its got a nice bright light , It came in a really nice box. The only thing i found a problem with was the button to turn the light on, Personally I don't have an issue with it, but I can see the frail will have a problem as the button is quite hard to switch the light on, My mum struggles with that. But given the design and care over how it was presented I would recommend it highly.

I needed one of these for close work, and then got my 93 year old mother one, she struggles a bit with stiff on/off but thinks it great as I do
