Spliced well
I have 96 successful, low loss spices. I spliced both 900 and 250 micron jacketed SM Commscope fibers. The heater had to be turned down a little but that is an easy setting and it’s normal to adjust for current room temperatures. The easy app makes setting and operating an easy task. Didn’t really use the cutter much because I have a trusty Jonard cleaver. The build in tool storage compartment is really convenient as well. I haven’t spliced MM yet but I don’t foresee any issues. For the price it’s an excellent welder. Nice little tool.

Great budget kit
I have been using this splicer for about 3 months now, with about 1,500 splices under its belt. It’s not a super fancy splicer, but it does the job at a fraction of the cost of the cheapest name brand splicer.Fiber splicer: In order to do any changes on the machine, you must download an app. The machine does have a decent customization menu though. I tested a few splices when I first got the machine, and it does create a splice with very minimal loss if any. It is core alignment, and very rarely produces a splice higher than .03dB loss. The only flaw I repeatedly have with the machine is the inability to recognize some bad cleaves. For that reason, I turned off the automatic splice setting so that it pauses and I can check both cleaves before the splice. If your cleaver has a clean cut 100% of the time, then there is no need to turn off the auto setting.Fiber stripper: The fiber stripper works perfectly. I prefer them over my name brand strippers, especially due to having more ergonomic handles. Breaking a fiber while trying to strip it has been very few, far, and in between.Fiber cleaver: The cleaver works great 90% of the time, when adjusted properly. Mine had to be adjusted out of the box as I was consistently getting cracked cleaves. It works well enough now for me to not get frustrated, or feel the need to buy a cleaver that cost almost the same price as this entire kit.Alcohol Dispenser: The container is a bit small so it will have to be refilled more often. If your goal is to soak your cloth with alcohol, you will need to do quite a few pumps. It’s not the worst dispenser I’ve used though.VFL and Power Meter: I have not had a chance to confirm the accuracy of the power meter yet, but the VFL is plenty bright.Case: I really like the design of the case, with the fiber splicer being stored on top, with the tools being stored in a slide out drawer below. The stool that comes with it is tiny. Most people will probably have no use for it.Overall, I’m happy with my machine so far, and would definitely consider buying again if need be.

Well it's s fusion splicer
To start off I have been in the telecom industry for almost 20 years for reference. But this is the first time in my own firming a new company.I saw this splicer had plenty of reviews and top performer. I finally had a chance to try it out on a fiber run. Once completed .02&.04 db loss was measured after the splice. The screen is decent and is in a fixed position and is operated with only a few button but mostly works off an app. In my opinion is horrible and you are at the mercy of your phone for at least initial setup.

Good value
The splicer works good, it has an awesome heater but I had issues when installing the heat shrink in the heater. It would break the fiber, I was slowing down to see why it was breaking the fiber, but I couldn't see why. I was putting the sleeve and fiber exactly where it should go and the heater door would shut and 5 times it broke the fiber. I am going to keep using it and try to find out why.

Worked admirable.
This splicer did as promised and will buy again if needed.

Works well
Only 20 splices so far, but so far, completely satisfied. It cost less to do this myself than a quote from a local fiber technician, and now I have a splicer, too. Something of a newbie--but this is much better than mechanical splices, which really are a toss of the dice; even if they work, they might not last. Also, nice tools. Nice stripper, strips clean. Nice cleaver. You can see the perfectly cleaved ends when they fuse. The splices are sound. The app isn't strictly necessary unless you want to calibrate. That's good because the app wants access to everything on the phone. I keep a separate device for that kind of app, but I still don't give it the permissions it wants.

Cool little splicer.
As long as you get a clean Cleve of your fiber ends this splicer will reliably put them together with sub db loss. Beautiful for a small shop that only needs a few splices a month

Battery dies - new battery won't charge
The battery that comes with this unit fails within a year. You have to order a new one direct from China which takes a month to come in. After I did this, now it won't charge at all. Either the weird power adapter has failed or the charging port on the unit is failing. It's a shame because the splicing works good BUT not if you can't power the unit on.
