Where is the audio input?

The 3 pins are ground, left and right input. The "green box shaped things" are phoenix connectors for left and right output (L&R speakers)

Has anyone try this with less than 6 volts?

No I didn’t but I won’t recommend it. 12v at least. Check out the data sheet for the amp ‘TDA7297’ and there you can find specs on lows and highs for voltage and other useful information

Do these have any gain or are they just voltage followers?

as with anything called a power amplifier they amplify. Low voltage signal in hi current out. Power is the product of of volts times amps . the higher the voltage is driven into a fixed load. the higher the current will be. A power amplifier amplifies both volts and amps(Power).

Where does it connect to the 12V?

You can either a) get a 12v Computer charger or b) you can sea soilder the power connector and put your own power supply
