Short, Accessible defense of Free Trade / Ricardo
Content Summary: This book is a fairly effective defense of Free Trade, and focuses upon a summary of the ideas of David Ricardo. It is set as a imaginary dialogue between Ricardo, and a fictional U.S. television manufacturer. Ricardo is trying to redeem his lost soul (very much modeled after the Jimmy Stewart picture, "It's a Wonderful Life") by defending his ideas about free trade and comparative advantage to the U.S. businessman. The intent is to defeat the idea that tariffs and trade barrier protectionism helps.Analytical Review: For those not highly motivated to read Ricardo's economic classic ("On the Principles of Political Economy and Taxation'), this is a very readable alternative that simplifies his ideas. It presents the free trade arguments in a very accessible format. Many examples are very clear and compelling, others not so much. Whether you with free trade mantra or not, this is a good, clear defense to be read, digested, and reflected upon.

Great book that clearly explained 'scary' economic topics
I had to read this book for class. It was the fourth of four books I had to read for the class. I rather quite enjoyed this book. It made 'scary' economic topics like free trade, dumping, trade policy, etc. easy to understand. The examples were simple, but really made the topics understandable. I'm new to the economics/business world, so this was a valuable book to read. I definitely recommend this book and I may use it in my future. I gave it four stars because the book did drag at times, but for the most part, it was great.

Nice quality
It’s not perfect, but the quality of the book is acceptable and was carefully taken cared of.

Insightful Primer on the Free Market System
This tiny book is an excellent primer for anyone who wanted to know more about Free Market Economics. It does a very good job of explaining tariffs and subsidies and how that affects the market as a whole. The book is written like a story, with one character trying to convince another of something that he shouldn't do (you'll have to read it to find out what). Overall, I think this is a good book for juvenile and adult alike who know very little to nothing about the economics of a free market.

A wonderfully educational story.
Great story. Compelling and grounded in solid economic theory. This book can help make modern economics accessible to anyone, including your teenage children.Clear, concise writing style. Compelling narrative illuminates the finer points of international trade. NO MATH makes it simple. The only downside is that the print quality is horrible. Below what one expects from mass market paperbacks.

Learn economics thru fiction
It won't win any literary awards, but this is a novel way to explain economic concepts (no pun intended). Late British economist David Ricardo guides the protagonist like a Dickensian ghost of economic present and alternate futures. Along the way, their dialogue hits on a variety of topics related to free trade and protectionism: comparative advantage, outsourcing, tariffs and quotas, trade deficits, fair trade, and globalization. It's a quick read, which may help you understand economics better than traditional teaching methods.

Excellent Book
This is a short short that includes economic principles in real life examples. This was originally assigned by my economics professor as an extra credit assignment. I absolutely loved the book and have shared it with two others so far. This book also helped me get ahead in economics while others were beginning to struggle. I do enjoy economics, but I am NOT an economics major; If you are interested in learning more about economics this is a great book, but you must first understand what a comparative advantage is when talking about economics. I hope this review helps.

Product was in fine condition but shipping was horrible.
I ordered this product for a class and wanted two day shipping. It took 7 business days to arrive. By the time I received the book the assignment was over (it was a short summer course) and I ended up not reading it in time for class. Be aware of purchases with internationalbooks. Book is good set up like the movie Miracle on 34th street with past present and future. It discusses how trade affect jobs and prices. Good short read about international business and very informative.

economics challenge
Bought as a challenging read. for a novice economist friend. Haven't seen him since, but Iexpect the deep questions and arguments soon. The book was recommended y another friend BAcc.FInst Acc. MBA and Tuck scholar - the recommendatin has pedigree, but I may be directing the questions from one friend to the other and avoiding any intermediate role!
