Liberty HDX-250 Smart Vault Biometric Safe - Safely secure your valuables or handgun in the new Home Defender

No problems at all with the fingerprint scanner. It opens up every single time unless the battery gets too weak to power the motor that opens the safe. The supplied 9v battery lasted about 6 months. Though it still reads good on my battery tester, my battery meter reveals that it doesn't have enough power to operate the motor. I recommend using the ac adapter as a primary power source and the battery as a back up. From what i have read and what I know through personal experience with this safe, weak batteries could be the cause for many of the problems people are claiming are due to the fingerprint scanner.

I will say that I was very excited to have this safe because I am such a strong believer in Liberty from my other purchases. I have a full size Colonial and an HD-200. For the money I paid I feel I am really getting robbed.Pros -sturdy constructionlit interiorvery fast biometric reading/processingdoor opens very quickCons--the door opens so quick and with such force I had to put a small paperback book for it to land on so it didn't break my night stand-the motor opening the door is loud enough to wake the dead-the safe is awkwardly big enough that it should have a shelf but at the same time has a hard time pulling a full size gun out of because it is so rectangular (the HD line angles up so you don't whack the gun while removing it)-the metal is very thin for the money-the power cable on the inside of the safe is just hanging out for you to bash it, I think a right angle adapter would have been an easy fix not to loose the few cubic inches around the cable on the inside of the safeBottom line, if I had to do it again I would either go with the HD line again or tried to find the HDX 350 (saw it a few times online, not on amazon). The HDX 250 took all of the money and sank it in the biometric reader and fell on it's face with not enough budget left over. If I could return this I would.

This is a great safe. I have had it for a while now. Sometimes the fingerprint reader is a little slow to respond, but i think that is to be expected. I would not want to have to open it in a panic situation. It is perfect to just leave it open most of the time and then just close it when children or others might be around. Sometimes it opens right away with the finger print and sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries. I am happy with the quality of the product and a lot of times it is still faster than entering a code, but sometimes it is not.

Works great, heavy duty, but don't weight too much to move locations. The spring loaded quick open feature works good.

Love this safe, easy to set up and is a solid product. I love the light on the inside and finger scanner. Latching mechanism is very solid, no worries here. Would definitely purchase again.

Good quality. Made in the USA. Easy setup. Handsome looking handgun vault. I found that by placing the imprinted finger (unlocking finger) directly in channel first then pulling slowly back opens box 100% of time. Also, as someone stated before/elsewhere this is not a safe. Unless anchored into something substantial one could simply pick up and walk away with it. But, the point of this product is to keep special items (firearms, valuables, etc.) inaccessible to prying eyes and hands (e.g. little hands). A task this vault performs to a "T".

Works well and opens fast! I think it is the best of the biometric small safes

This safe is strong and easy to program your finger printers. The biometric reader is excellent.
