Works as advertised and simple to use
Best jar opener I have ever found and works for small containers like RX bottles as well as larger Mayo jars. Great when your hands need a little help or a sadist was the last to close something.

This actually works!
Lately just about everything I try to open has become impossible! 🤷🏽♀️ I was so surprised that this thing ACTUALLY WORKS! It's so nice not to have to fight with everything for 5 minutes and I haven't found anything yet that it didn't open. It's very durable and easy to use. Love it!

Works pretty well but be careful how you use it.
I bought this Oxo opener as a temporary assist with opening jars after an injury, but I think I'm going to keep it. As with most Oxo kitchen products, it is a well-constructed tool and it comes with a handy rubber pad that adds grip to the bottom of jars you want to open. However, but it can be a bit awkward to twist this tool with one hand while holding a larger sized jar in the other. There is potential for things to go sideways if you put a lot of pressure on either item. Additionally, the tool has metal teeth on one side in order to really get a grip on lids so if the tool slips so there is a chance you could come in contact with those teeth. Having said that, if you don't go ham and just take your time with the first jar or three [until you've worked out the ergonomics], you should be fine. This opener works best for me when I put a jar on the rubber pad, then pull the tool with my left hand while gripping the jar with my right hand [easier to pull than to push!] Your results may vary. If you have an injury, a bit of arthritis or you just and need a little help with your grip, I'd recommend this tool. Beyond that, I'd consider a mounted version so you can use both hands to open stubborn lids.

This is my go to tool when I cannot open a jar. It provides leverage and jar opens right up.

Not the OXO Opener I Knew and Adored
For a very long time, I had an OXO jar opener that looked more or less like this (without the ridiculous counter thingy). I loved it. I made sure the divorce agreement specified I got the jar opener. ;) It just worked. I used to slide it on, a twist maybe two, and the lid was off. I never feared having to open a jar without a stronger pair of hands nearby. The years finally caught up to my jar opener, and the metal gripper blade broke. It could not be repaired for love nor money. So I looked for another exactly like my old one, specifically by OXO. After one lid, I knew this product is not meant to easily open jars, if it manages to open them at all. There's very little functional bite to the gripping teeth. It doesn't matter how long you push or twist, the teeth don't magically get more functional. The opposite side of the opener slips just as effortlessly. The rubber bottle/jar grip on the counter has been of no help. In the past 6 months, I've been able to open two lids. Beyond that, I can score a smooth line that strips coverings off the surface of metal and etches a slightly deeper line, and I can make a hash of any plastic lid known to man (provided it fits the opener). I'd be fine with damaging lids so long as I could get them off and they weren't so damaged the jar could at least reseal if I needed to store it against future use. This opener found its way to the landfill. For now, I've been using the floor-banging method for loosening lids, which can get messy and is quasi-reliable at best. And I'm on the lookout for something simple (and non-electric) that can do the job without reducing me to tears. Next on the list is a cabinet-mounted one. My advice ... just don't. Keep looking. [NOTE] If you see a jar opener that has 5 stars with a large number of 5-star reviews and an Amazon "Hot Seller" "Amazon's Choice" notation, check that the review dates aren't all within days of each other. Very few products get a 100% 5-star rating across a large number of reviews. Also filter for verified purchases. If there's only one verified purchase among those 5-star reviews, be suspicious. (I've seen this "practice" while looking at some openers.)

Good Quality, But Couldn't Get It to Work
I purchased this for my parent who has carpal tunnel, hoping it would make opening jars easier on their hands. The quality seemed good, the material felt sturdy and well made. However, we couldn't figure out how to get it to work properly. We tried a few different approaches but ended up returning it. Might work better for others, but it just wasn't intuitive enough for what we needed.

Easy to use.
Great product. Easy to use. Lids were not opening before we purchased this gripper opener, now it is quite easy.
