Awesome Vise
This product is everything they advertised, and more. Stout and sturdy. Really like the magnetic maple blocks. One feature that I didn’t notice is the operation of the screw. During any type of use, if you back out the screw 1-2 turns the whole moving part of the vise slides freely to any position. Very handy. This is the second Milton vise I’ve bought and I’m duly impressed. Unless you are on a really tight budget, spend the extra money. It’s worth it.

Will last lifetimes!
My dad was a high school wood shop teacher and had 16 10" wide Wilton vices on 4 large workbenches for his students to use (& abuse). He bought them in the late 1950's and they lasted his whole 35 yr career, plus another 18-20 years after that! Not until the town built a new high school were they replaced, but I bet someone is still using them to this day LOL! I have the 7" ver. of this wonderful vice, now I wish I bought the 10" and I'm going to order one of them as well. I like this new ver. of the vice as it covers up all the vice's threads, which is great, no more fooling around trying to clean them all the time. This vice is VERY well priced, I can't imagine why they don't sell more of them, they are built like a tank & very reasonable to boot. The big advantage to the Wilton vice over other vices is the nifty quick release function, you just have to turn the handle one turn to the left and the front jaw will pull all the way out. When you're ready for the next item to be put it the jaws, just push the jaws in right up to the object and give the handle a couple of turns and it's tight. No lever to hold down nor turning the handle 40 times....it's a great time saver! The jaws come with 2 blocks of hardwood that have a magnet on them so they are removable (see pic) The jaw closest to you can pivot (see pic) and there is a bench dog as well. The vice is very heavy and will most likely need two guys (or gals) to install, we used long reach channellocks to hold up the vice while marking & then drilling & putting in the lag bolts. We had to make the hole a little bigger with a file to get the recommended lags to fit. This is a tool that you shouldn't skimp on, EVERY wood shop needs a good vice! It's a one time, life time purchase that will last for generations. This is not the place to save a few bucks! If you found this review helpful please check the thumbs up, thanks, MikeTheReviewer

Awesome quick release vise option
I can’t say enough how much a good quick release vise is absolutely vital in a workshop space. Wilton is by far the best if seen for what I need. First, my shop space is outdoor in an area with high humidity and where everything turns to rust. This vise is coated in every essential way. Handle seems to be aluminum and the vise is mostly covered with a protective coating that’s also clear coated on top of that. I accidentally wiped some off some clear coat with acetone but just recoated with some poly and it’s all good again. The guts of the vise is coated with grease or some sort of lube that keep the parts from oxidizing. Smooth action. Mounted solidly with the shims I made of Baltic birch (pictured) using the provided instructions and the template for the holes. Made a base plate to mount my 4” vise wedging it between a bench dog and the raised face plate (pictured). I use this for metal parts so that I don’t mess up this beautiful Wilton vise. Came with the two magnetic Maple blocks to use with fine wood pieces. When compared to the other options on the market (eclipse, woodcraft, etc.) no other would really work for what I want. These other options have bare metal that would just rust over and look like a mess in this humidity unless cared for every single day. Not worth the time or money for those. But for this Wilton vise, absolutely worth it and with amazon being the seller....WIN - WIN! 5 stars and no less!

Helping Hands...
The reviews were correct. Quick delivery, excellent product, clear directions, and the installation was straight forward.. No major problems. I did have to remove some of the sand from the bolt holes which can happen sometimes in a forged piece of metal. The 3/8" x 3" lag bolts were a little tight on the front two bolt holes. No big deal, however, from a quality point of view, I was surprised the inspector did not check the bolt holes. I installed a extra 2"x4" underneath my bench so that the lag bolts had plenty of wood to secure the vise. Next, I located and drilled the pilot holes per the directions. The next step, I installed the rear bolts as suggested to the recommended length. Using a round file, I opened the two front bolt holes so that the lags bolts could be started by hand as stated in the directions. Finally, I used my 1/2" impact gun to tighten the lag bolts and started enjoying the extra pair of hands that I need just about everyday when repairing or building different projects for home or the Thea Bowman Center where I work part-time. I found that the magnetic hardwood pads that came with the vise worked well. However, for the next project I needed to install larger hardwood pads on my vise. I included a picture. Thank you for a great product and quick service.
