Only if you have it full of clothes. Otherwise it has soft sides. It’s nice quality tho

Can I put books inside of them?

I wouldn't recommend it unless they're small paperback children's books and you're intending to leave the thing on the floor and slide it out from under the bed. Honestly though, the weight of a bunch of small books adds up fast. I would NOT recommend using this for anything BUT clothing or blankets. If you're looking to store books, you're better off getting a storage block or plastic crate.
