works well and cost effective.
my house unit developed a condenser leak after 24 years so bought a new unit. the old one was still in great shape so i moved it to my shop which only had a window unit and no heat. this detector was well worth the money, found the minor leak and repaired it. since this was a freon 22 and very expensive to use that refrigerant, i switched to R290 (propane) and the detector had no issues with that nor with natural gas in another situation.

Worked once
I purchased this leak detector in May of 2024. The device worked well the first use. The 2nd time I tried to sniff out an automotive AC system, it was picking up in too many areas. u I turned it off, replaced the batteries and installed a new tip, " after blowing out the wand ". I tested the device before trying to use it on the vehicle. After 8 seconds, all lights came on I then set the sensitivity down, again All red lights came on. I tried resetting a few more times. Everytime I did this , after 8 seconds the device went crazy.

Good enough to get you buy
I purchased this to try it out, Yes it is a cheap unit, but it does work as it should. It's made well and comes with extra tips. I have tried it out and it picked up the leak just like my $300 unit does. If you don't want to spend alot of money for a Top quality set, don't be afraid of this , I look at it this way, If my son uses it like everything else, and it's still working 3 months later, it worth it's money.

This product does not work for the new refrigerant like it advertises. Returned the unit.

Make sure there is no breezes of any type. Excellent results when administered at a slow meticulous search and pausing.
