Q: Where you able to remove the springs as stated? I received a pair and ends are sewn shut and there does not appear to be any supports inside.

Yes they were actually metal strips. They slid out very easily. I was actually looking for something a little stiffer to replace them with. I bought them for a lamb that had buckled knees. I put them on so the metal strip was at the front of the knee for more support. Worked very well and really helped the lamb.

No hair loss on my dog, I have a doberman. No red spots either. My boy licked his as well, it's typical with anything foreign to them. If you train your dog the leave it command it will help. It is a way to reassure them that it is ok to be there, you're the "alpha"

Q: how much support do these give as my dog has really weak wrist

I used it on my dog but it got loose and kept slipping off his leg well he was I'm the yard I think these need more support on the sides as well because they were more flexible than firm for my dog so I don't muse them anymore
