These Marshall Excelsiors are highly recommended LP regulators, quality units that are built in America. They are expensive, but worth it.There is no "Bait and Switch" with this product, the seller's picture is simply outdated. These regulators are now only powder coated on the bottom half, you can see this at the manufactures website on page five of the catalog.The "flipper switch" or change over lever is not supposed to move, this is stated in the instructions.Mine did not leak, and drain" the whole propane tank" (this is for twin tanks, so I can't imagine this regulator draining just one tank...) I recommend these regulators, as they are quality units, the green one for sale here is high flow, as explained in the mfg's website. That's the reason "H" is in the suffix of the part number, the fact that this is particular unit is labeled "HP" means it is sold in a package, with instructions. the MEGR-253H is the same unit, but bought by a vendor in bulk, and resold without packaging, and presumably without instructions. Understand that this regulator comes WITHOUT a bracket. There are four bosses on the back, which I tapped for #10-32 machine screws, which I used to affix this unit to my own bracket. Marshall Excelsior has ready made brackets that are available for mounting these units.The inlet fittings are 1/4" reverse flare pipe fittings, and the outlet is 3/8"FTP.To maximize the full "High Capacity" flow of propane, one is supposed to use the MER426H hose, with the suffix "H" once again designating high flow. These hoses have red "Acme Nut". I cheaped out and used the green nut MER426 standard flow hoses, because my travel trailer has a smaller furnace.

I'm using this valve for two 100 lb cylinders. The valve would not switch from one cylinder to the other as it is designed to do so I would have to manually switch from the empty cylinder to the full. That's fine except it shuts off the boiler that is heating my workshop/garage.I contacted customer service and received a quick email reply asking for my shipping address. They wanted to send me out a replacement without any documentation on my end. You cannot beat that type of customer service. The problem is the replacement is operating exactly as the original. It is not automatically switching from the empty tank to the full one. There appears to be a design flaw or some other mechanical issue with these valves. I think the quick replacement indicates that the company knows there is an issue. Either that or they are concenred about customer service and stand behind their products. Either way, I'm still left without an operating automatic valve. Frustrating.

The switch on the unit had lots of play in it and after speaking with the actual manufacturer, they informed me that the switch should have no play and that they don't sell on Amazon.

Used this to replace the high pressure regulator on my coleman fleetwood pop up. It was easy to Install and I was able to confirm the outside stove still works. Having the peace of mind that I dont need to swap propane in the middle of the night when its cold out is well worth the price.

Could not get a replacement for my defective, old regulator locally. Thankful to be able to get a great replacement thru Amazon. It was easy to install and worked with out any trouble.

This is advertised as a powder coated item and the picture clearly shows both top and bottom sections being powder coated. Item I received has only lower section powder coated.

Nice auto-changeover regulator. Lever is easy to operate and clearly indicates which tank is in use. There is an extra port for a test gauge which I used to install an auxiliary line for portable propane appliances like a table top grill or a heater. Unit has been working just fine for over a year now on my vintage travel trailer.

Works well so far, but it's only been a month. Have not fully tested but it does not leak and all my appliances seem to have ample flow with the furnace and generator being large consumers of fuel yet function fine.
