One of My Favorite Books
If you are into Holistic or Naturopathic self help, this is not a bad place to start reading. _Back to Eden_ is a classic read on the subject. I read this book for the first time as a time and years later, it still holds up. If you want to understand more about herbs and such, that section of the book offers information regarding the main herbs and roots that are in use for a variety of conditions. But, I do think it has a lot of common sense approaches to the use of herbs and treatment for mild ailments. While it does offer information about serious conditions, by no means would I use this book in place of medical advice. I would approach those aspects with extreme caution and cross referencing, as well consultation with a professional practitioner. The reasons (forgive me for stating the obvious); some herbs cause contraindication or adverse reaction in combination with some medications and self diagnosis is dangerous and fool hardy -- it should be left up to the professions (second opinions are always good too).My paperback copy fell apart years ago, but, now I have a Kindle Edition of the book. Thanks Amazon!

The original version. Quite lengthy, but informative
Although it's not particularly professionally, or even well thought out- on pages, the information is good. Keeping in mind Mr. Kloss was helping to heal folks back in early 1900's, I take my hat off to him for putting this book out there. There are newer techniques on some things, and product changes over the years have made some items not as healthy, or different than they were back then. (soymilk was one of his staples) Today, it's processed differently than what his homemade method, and I use Almond milk instead. But a lot to learn from Jethro Kloss.I suggest after you read until you are tired, to use the Table of Contents to zero in on subjects.

The earlier years are the best i. e
I have had a couple versions of this book for over 25 years and it has helped me get thru some major illnesses w/o having to go seek medical help. This version was supposed to have come out in '72 but it had a 1974 chart in it. wtf? The earlier years are the best i.e., the older the version the better because the Kloss family was still involved in the publishing whereas now i'm not so sure. The old, old versions which my mother had did not say "seek medical help" so I'm very skeptical about who's publishing this book now.

If you like to rely on some natural remedy for your body ...
I purchased this to have on hand because I due refer to it from time to time for different natural remedies. I have always had this as a reference and my original book fell apart and needed to be replaced. If you like to rely on some natural remedy for your body this is an excellent, excellent book to have. I don't want to be without it, I have referred to this book off and on for over 40 yrs. A great reference to have in your library.

Classic
I bought my first copy of this book back in the early 80's. It straddles the line between good, practical information about medicinal herbs, and how to find, mix, and use them. It also talks about illnesses and natural ways to cure them. Ok, now for the negatives - its more than a little "alternative medicine" and some of the information is suspect. But, there's a reason the book has stood the test of time and is considered a classic - its got good information!

Best herbal and health book ever
One of the most informative books on natural healing and health. I've owned the paperback for over 15yrs and unfortunately it was destroyed. If your looking for an alternative to the poisons that pharmaceutical companies are passing off as cures then this is the way to go. Using this as a foundation and take a few naturalists courses and your in your way to a healthier you and can stop putting pharmaceuticals in your body with all the dangerous and sometimes fatal side effects. Start living and healing yourself the way God intended

The Herbal
Great herbal resource. Tells about each herb and its properties as well as finding herbs to use for specific conditions. He also tells you how to prepare herbs for use. Alot of information regarding diet and water consumption as well as other health practices. Not as complete as the original, but still a good resource. I have had a copy of the original book for over 40 years and it is falling apart. Bought this one for a friend.

Back to Eden Guide to Herbal Therapy
This book is wonderful for learning more about homeopathic medicine as an alternative to pharmaceuticals, in which I do not agree with. This book gives a better understanding to herbal remedies and assists you on what will work best for many ailments. I needed a better understanding to what herbs to use and for what purpose and this book is very instrumental in giving that assistance.
