Based in an alternate Earth, Malifaux uses gothic, steampunk, and Victorian horror with a dose of the wild west to inject fun and depth into the magical lawlessness of a world rife with monsters, necropunks, man-machine hybrids, gunslingers, and power-hungry politicos. Actively using character-driven stories to define the world of Malifaux, seek your fortune in this fast paced and brutal 32mm tabletop miniature skirmish game. Assemble your crew and stake your claim! Malifaux 2E completely updates the rules of the game, adding strategic depth, clarity, and choices. New stories, new factions, and new characters continue to pull you through the Breach and leave you battling for opportunity and survival in the dangerous world of Malifaux. No longer do you have to trust the fickle fate of a dice roll. In Malifaux you use cards, a Fate Deck, as you lead your Crew to victory with strategy, tactics and resource management, and if that isn't enough, you can Cheat Fate. Looking for scalability? Malifaux has it. Jump in with nothing more than a single Crew for a quick and brutal fight, or take your time to gather allies and mercenaries and field a much larger force. Each character brings unique skills and abilities. But don't waste a single Soulstone; it may be your final mistake.

Can't read it because eyes are watering...
My Rule book arrived promptly and well packaged sandwiched between two cardboard inserts to keep it from bending, it was in the condition described and is exactly as pictured. Why I rated it 4 instead of 5 is the book REEKS of lemongrass/lavender or some kind of overpowering scent. If you're sensitive to smells like me it's enough to give you a headache and possibly make your eyes water by simply opening your package and I may be unable to even be near it until its aired out a bit! Beyond that the book is wonderful, exactly what a beginner needs when starting out and the information is fantastic.

Wrong item pictured
The item pictured is WRONG! But the item description is correct. This is not the rules manual, the is the rules book. I have reported this to Amazon, so maybe they will eventually fix it.This is the only reason I gave it 3 stars. If the image was correct I would have given this a 5 star review. This issue caused me to order 2 copies of the book thinking one was an overpriced rules manual. Although Amazon did give me a free shipping label to return it.This version of the malifaux rules is outstanding. I completely recomend it to anyone wanting to get into the game. This book is 40% rules & 60% backstory and lore. If you want something that's just the rules, get the rules manual. Which does not have an Amazon listing at the time of this post.I added a picture of the correct cover art for this book.

Good Rulebook
Nice book, softcover, good amount of fluff and rules written pretty clearly have helped me choose what crew to start with and is a must have if you're playing the game. All in all, nice book, good content, I would tell anyone interested in Malifaux to get this book first and then go from there.

The rules are really cool and innovative
The rules are really cool and innovative, although the layout of the rulebook can be confusing to a new player. I had to read the rule book twice and consult various Malifaux boards to finally understand the rules. This rulebook could have benefited from a glossary and summary of game play.

"New" vs "Like New"
I definitely paid for a "New" book, but the edges of the cover and spine definitely didn't seem new. Ive seen worse, the book was plenty useable but it was just a little too beat up to be considered new in my opinion

a Merely *Very Good* Book for a Great Game.
To get this out of the way:-It's MaliFoe not MaliFox (This should be obvious)-There are two versions of the game, this book is for the 2nd (Current) edition.-There are two ways to buy these rules-This is the smaller, digest size Rules MANUAL-This contains only the rules and objectives.-This larger book is called the Rulebook-That contains the rules, all the unit stats, and the lore.-This book (the Manual) retails for $15, straight from the source-That book (the Rulebook) retails for $40 straight from the source.-This listing is showing the wrong item, at the wrong price, with the wrong picture. That said, this is the Rules Manual itself, for which I will give a brief review:Malifaux is one of my new favorite things, it's cheap (relative to other miniature/strategy games) to play, and it uses poker cards instead of dice (super gimmicky, but super cool.) This book teaches me what I need to know to play, and does so in a pretty straightforward way.It has a good index, which is good because the layout was pretty poor. It suffers from a lack of a condensed flowchart/cheat sheet for all the numbers/situations involved, and I often have to flip back and forth to find that info as I am a fairly new player and don't remember all the numbers just yet. This makes learning take some time without an experienced player. The game is good, and book is a good compact way to learn it, despite the issues with the layout (for which I deducted a single star). Barring the binding shedding pages, which is happening to the larger book (the Rulebook) my friend has, there are no obvious problems with the product, as the production value seems decent besides.
