Excellent Solution for Smart Lights and Dumb Switches
I have Hue bulbs installed throughout my house, and I absolutely love them. However, my home is outfitted with standard wired switches in every room, which can cause a few issues. While voice control is convenient, flipping a light switch when entering a room often feels more natural. Unfortunately, when smart lights are connected to traditional switches, turning the switch off takes the bulbs offline. This makes them unavailable for voice commands, automations, or routines. Worse yet, it disrupts the flow of controlling all the lights in a room—turning the switch back on only reactivates the power, not the smart functionality. This dimmer solves that problem perfectly. It prevents the lights from being accidentally turned off while seamlessly integrating with the existing wall plate. The design is clean and simple, and the installation is straightforward. I explored alternatives like the Hue Dimmer Switch, but it presented a couple of challenges. Using it would require either adding a separate plate alongside my existing switch or rewiring the wall switch to tie the wires together and then installing the Hue Dimmer over it. Both options seemed cumbersome or overly invasive. In contrast, this dimmer offers a much cleaner and more practical solution. There’s also the Hue Wall Switch Module, which serves a similar purpose. However, it requires dismantling the wall switch and connecting wires to achieve functionality, making it more complex to install. Additionally, the Wall Switch Module only provides basic on/off functionality, whereas this Lutron switch offers multiple features, including dimming and switching between scenes. For me, the added versatility of this dimmer makes it the clear winner. If I have one complaint, it’s the price. While I believe the quality and functionality justify the cost, it becomes a bit painful when you need several of these switches throughout the house. A multi-pack—perhaps a 4-pack with a 20% discount—would make it much easier to outfit an entire home without breaking the bank. Overall, this dimmer is a fantastic solution for managing smart lights in a home with traditional switches. It simplifies lighting control, eliminates offline bulb errors, and offers more functionality than other options. While it’s an investment, the convenience and seamless integration make it well worth considering.

Easy and It Works!
We have a wall switch that controls six hue ceiling light bulbs in the kitchen. The problem is that we’re not always carrying our phones when we go in and out of the kitchen. And, guests don’t know the switch controls smart bulbs so they shut the lights off with the switch and then we have to flick it back on to control the lights with the app again. This Lutron dimmer switch is the perfect solution and it took only seconds to set it up. We can now control the lights from the wall without worrying about guests turning the switch off.

Smart Dimmer That Makes Forgetting the Switch a Thing of the Past
The clean white design blends right in with my wall and feels sturdier than a standard switch cover. Installation was a breeze plugged right into my Philips Hue Bridge without any fuss or weird glitches. I love how the knob lets me dim the lights smoothly, and the button press turns the light off without shutting down the smart features. No more accidentally flicking the switch and losing control over my smart bulbs, which was driving me crazy before. The customization options in the app let me fine-tune how the dimmer works, which is a nice bonus. I’m already planning to get two more to upgrade the other rooms in my house. Great color, simple setup, useful function, solid build, and real value all wrapped into one smart little device.

Easy setup and use but feels cheap and flimsy
I have been eyeing this switch for my hue setup for a while now as it is the only smart switch I know of that installs over an existing switch. I finally decided to buy it as I am tired of relying upon my voice for my lights. As for the Installation, it was very easy. The dimmer mount slides right over the existing wall switch, and it is secured into place with a metal bracket that applies pressure to the wall switch acting as a clamp. The point on the metal bracket does dig into the wall switch so you may notice a small mark after removal. Once the bracket is in place the dimmer itself snaps into place, concealing the wall switch entirely. Use is easy as well. Setup was a breeze in the Pillips Hue app and I was able to use it within minutes. The one feature that is missing is the ability to set multiple taps of the button, so you are limited to a simple on/off with a single lighting scene. The rotation of the dimmer is smooth and quickly changes the brightness of the lights. While the dimmer fulfills my requirements and I am happy with the end result, I worry greatly about the longevity of the product. The dimmer is plastic and the base is plastic but it does not feel like a strong plastic. I have accidentally swiped at the dimmer multiple times due to muscle memory of the previous switch, and I have knocked the dimmer off of the wall or disrupted the mount position each time. Pressing the button on the dimmer is also strange as the button does not depress parallel to the wall, there is always a slight slant or wiggle to the button. Overall I am happy with the purchase, I just hope I do not regret such an expensive switch if it breaks within a short while.

Works exactly as intended.
Does exactly what it's supposed to do. Good connectivity, easy to install and to add to the Hue eco system. We use it in our bathroom together with a Hue Motion Sensor. Because of this button, we can now set the motion sensor OFF timer for a bit longer, which acts as a failsafe should we forget to turn off the light. Its only flaw is that it feel very light and plasticy. It kinda wobbles when you press it, which makes it feel breakable. Do not use in kids rooms or in areas where kids like to crash around. Still very happy with it though.

I admit that I would love to see these around the $20-30 mark, but at the end of the day, they are a product I'm happy to spend $50 for. When it comes to smart devices in a house, I absolutely love smart lights, but their usefulness tends to break down once you start to factor in other people. I'm happy to tinker with things and set customized routines and triggers without thinking of it, but what about family, friends, or guests? Its something new that they might only temporarily or rarely be exposed to, and the more removed it is from 'flip switch get light' the more annoyed people are likely to get. When it comes to convenience, I've played around with Philips Hue switches before because they get closer to the "standard light switch package", but I haven't found anything more directly effective than this. It first deals with the problem of 'how do people interact with lights' via allowing people to either press the switch to turn it on/off, and allows for people to control a dimmer feature via spinning the dial. But, more importantly, it locks operation of the light switch. I currently live in an apartment so I cannot connect or disconnect certain plugs from a switch, and there are times that I do not want a light switch to be operational - like, for example, if the switch connects to a plug that powers my computer or other devices I expect to stay on. Installation of this over a switch stops that switch from being fiddled with, while still letting easy control of lights. Even when you're not dealing with something that wants/assumes constant power, smart lights losing power can be a bit of a pain in the butt in the first place: Philips Hue has a 'power on' default now (thankfully), but I'm not sure about their competitors. It at least means that you're not going to have strange reactions when lights are powered on, but lights that are off will never respond to a remote command. Locking the switch on means that this isn't an issue, and the ease of operation by anyone who isn't even tech-inclined means that the switch being locked on won't be an issue.

How many switches do you want? How much explaining do you want to do for your house sitter or family that comes over? If people roll their eyes at your smart bulb house, this is a great solution for plain white smart bulbs. Press to turn on and off, spin it on to start at lowest brightness. Great when you don't want MORE switches beside switches, or your wife likes to turn off all the conventional switches and mess with your grand scheme of a robot home. Over-priced at first, but honestly has made a world of difference for the one place i really needed this style of solution - the bathroom. No one wants to mess with stuff in a bathroom, but i also didn't want to be blinded every time i got up at night. More robust than i thought it would be, but I also wouldn't hit it with a hammer or a teenager.

The knobs work as expected, I did have some troubles installing 1 of them (I bought 2) but it was actually installing but not telling me that they were, so I kept resetting it for hours until I found out they were actually already paired, other than that, I do exactly what I need them to do, I’m taking 1 star because they are a bit too pricey for what they are.

This is a really ice way to keep the light on for a hue bulb. Very easy to pair and set up. The mechanism isn't very robust though. Don't bang it hard or it will break.
