Macromedia Studio 8 Step-by-Step: Projects for Flash 8, Dreamweaver 8, Fireworks 8, and Contribute 3 1st Edition

Book sold as advertised, gave a good background on the different programs. Although I'm using CS6 versions this book still gave good fundamental excersises.

I bought this book for school as was recommended. It appears to be written in 2006 and so the latest Dreamweaver versions do not tightly correspond which leads to some confusion when following instructions. Part of those instructions were for downloadable templates from a CD-ROM that was supposed to be included but was not... further compounding my inability to follow along.But, to be fair, I did buy the cheapest NEW book to be found ($6 and change compared $110) which may explain why the CD-ROM was not included. Yet, there should had been some disclaimer stating that there was no CD-ROM. And I have not been able to find the templates elsewhere online.

As we prepare students to meet the demands of the world of work theymust be able to present ideas in new ways this book helps us create that with theprojects.

I agree with a previous review, the book is good as long as you want to create what's in the book, but not good at getting you up to speed to do your own designs /work. Learning software via a book has proved NOT to work for me. There are a number of online learning sites some produced by software vendors like Adobe, which have proved to be better than buying these types of books. Not to mention the software will have upgraded by the time you learn what's in the book.

Very good, clear step-by-step instructions for beginning Studio 8 users. It could use a little more explanation on the use of CSS, but overall a very useful book.

This book really leads you step by step -- without explaining much, to the point that you don't know why you're doing things or how to use the applications when trying to create your own webpage (you're fine as long as you're doing the exercises in the book). If you're an absolute beginner, choose something else.
