Totally impressed with the quality, worth every penny.

Great quality and easy installation. A great addition to my boat. I've run a couple days with it so far and have had no issues. Others have commented that the set screws which anchor the brackets can dent the pole; I also found that to be the case (specifically where the lower bracket was anchored at the factory for shipment) but you really have to be looking for it to notice it.

This is a really high quality flag staff and base. The staff itself feels heavy enough that you could probably use it as a weapon!Build-quality wise, it's a 5-star product. I'm docking 1 star for two things that could be done better.1) The 904/30" staff model due to its size is meant to be through-bolted for strength and includes a backing plate and machine screws, nuts, and lock washers. The nuts are very thin and the washers separate pieces, making for awkward assembly reaching up towards the backing plate. I would have preferred thicker nuts with captured lock washers.2) The clips for attaching the flag to the staff require a 1/8" hex key to adjust to the height of your flag, but the staff ships with both clips at the top of the staff. So when you install it and don't have a 1/8" hex key, you can't hang your flag. The clip height adjustment should be Phillips head, just like the flag clip attachment OR a 1/8" hex key should be in the package OR the bottom clip should be loose enough to slide down the pole so the flag can be hung without searching for 1/8" hex key (I have wrenches, pliers and screwdrivers on the boat, but not hex keys). Another clever idea would be the staff set screw in the base having its tip as a 1/8" hex key, so you had a built-in tool for adjusting the flag height.

Heavy, great quality stainless steel materials with even stainless steel mounting screws for the flag. Usually these flag poles have those clips to attach the flag, but the screws were easier and nicer looking. Have gotten many compliments on the flag pole from my boating friends. I cannot comment on the included socket base, as I did not use it. The base appeared similarly constructed.

I like and have a lot of taylor made products, but for over $100 this flag pole is a really poor value. It's extremely thin walled, so everywhere you tighten a set screw it will leave a permanent divit. The finial falls off if you don't have the top flag mount all the way at the top and I found corrosion starting inside the pole. As a bonus, many parts of this stainless steel pole are magnetic. This is not a deluxe flagpole in and sense, there are much better options at this price point.
