The Tellington TTouch: Caring for Animals with Heart and Hands

The touch system is inspiring, but will it work as well for me, if I don't have that natural sense of an animal's feelings?
I like this book—it's very interesting and inspiring, but as far as using it for my cat, that's hard for me. He's a new cat and is very fussy about being touched. He doesn't like to have his ears touched and that's the body part she recommends most on cats, and other animals. She's always gotten the feeling that the ears are the BEST place, whereas I've always had the feeling that I shouldn't bother their ears. I was wondering if she has such a natural, inborn feeling for animals that part of why her "touch" system works for her is because of that, not so much because of the system of touching. That could apply to other practitioners of this system, too. But I'll keep trying! Anyway, God bless people like her!

A Hands On Approach for Calming Anxious Animals
This book is a must for anyone who has pets or works with animals. It explains clearly the unique massage methods developed by Linda Tellington-Jones, called TTouch. From cats and canines to large animals including horses, slithery critters, or feathered ones, as well as zoo animals, the TTouch hands-on treatment can help in many cases of animal anxiety and fear. Calming an animal who fears human touch but needs treatment, or just helping your family pet get through a particularly scary thunderstorm, the TTouch is a valuable tool for the caring animal owner or caretaker.

My cats loved it so much, they chewed the book's cover!
Other reviewers have complained that the book doesn't explain the technique well enough. I believe the techniques are explained later in the book, but it IS a bit distracting to read about this or that 'touch' and have to page around to find out what she's talking about. For that reason, four stars and not five. That said, using just a few of the techniques on lesson horses, or my cats at home, does seem to achieve a level of relaxing very quickly indeed.

Good information and good read
I’ll be honest and say that I am still reading this book after buying it a year ago. The author’s personal stories are fascinating and she intertwines them well with hands on information about the TTouch method. Although I am only ¾ of the way through the book, I already have a valuable grasp of the method.I was worried that the book would be fluff, but it is filled with information and advice. The cost of the book was well worth knowledge provided and I learned enough to help my “special” dogs with great results.

Very informative and interesting book, Linda Tellington-Jones goes into great detail with HOW her techniques are applied to all kinds of animals. All the different techniques are well illustrated and explained at the end of the book, and she includes some wonderful stories of her vast experience in animal behavior.

Disappointed
very disappointed in this book. It was identical inside as the other one I bought by the same author, even down to all the illustrations. Yes the title and cover picture are different. Have given it away to my local vet surgery.
