Rio Beach Hi-Boy Beach Chair

Having a bad knee I wanted something light weight and easy to carry to the beach, this was it...just the right height as well.

These chairs are so much easier to get out of than the short beach chairs! I love it! It looks just like the photo, only I expected it to be about the same size as my regular short chair. It's bigger (wider)! The back adjusts, and the cup holders are really nice to have. I bought an umbrella that was made to clamp to this chair, and it worked great! I didn't get sunburned at all this trip, and that's a major miracle! It's worth the price!

Because of the 17 inch seat height this chair is easy to get in and out of for older folks. Me and my wife both qualify.

This chair was just what I was looking for to take for a group of relatives on an out-of-town viewing of the eclipse in Kansas. It was the best price I could find by far on a quality folding chair. The back and seat material is very sturdy and a nice color. The handles are wooden and there is a pouch on one arm and a drink holder on the other. The drink holder would only hold a thin bottle of water, which I saw pre-purchase as a complaint, but better than no drink holder. There is a strap on the back so that you can carry it over your shoulder. The breadth of the chair is very generous. I have two small complaints. One, it feels a bit heavy or cumbersome to carry. However, as long as you are not carrying it far (or have someone bigger to carry it) the comfort and sturdiness are worth it. The other is that I have a little trouble figuring out how to get it open, but I think with use that should become no problem. It does recline some, which was a nice feature for watching the sky. Bottom line, for the price, I was very pleased.

Ok as I get older those low beach chairs had me rolling out onto the sand to get up, bad knees and all that. This is great just right for the beach...not too big or tall. Not heavy, but no lightweight piece of junk either. I find it easy to get in and out of and comfortable for beach cocktails. My only complaint is the cup holder is basically worthless, it’s so floppy that you can’t replace your drink without two hands. It wants to tip. But otherwise I love the bright colors and sturdy build.

I specifically purchased this chair because of the claims that the seat is extra high, and that the seat is elevated at 17" off the ground. However, the FRONT edge of the seat does measure at 17" from the ground, but then the seat slopes back and sinks to 14 1/2" off the ground. Result is that it is very difficult for me to get down into, and very difficult to get out of. It feels like I am sitting down in a hole. This chair is not designed for anyone who has bad knees or other physical challenges. I will check to see what the cost of postage might be to return this. If it is not expensive to ship, I'll return. Otherwise, I am stuck with a chair I cannot use. I only gave one star because there is no option for "No stars".

Tried it in the OBX last week. Great option to the low-slung chairs; my knees don't work like they used to!
