ABN Large Tap and Die Set Metric - 110 Piece Bolt and Pipe Tap Sets for Threading

This is an awesome kit.

This is a good variety of metric sizes. I needed a M16 size. It worked for what I needed, DIY auto repair. So I won’t be using it everyday.I’m a machinist, and did notice that the taps do have burrs on them. I wouldn’t recommend them for production type work. But for oddball jobs, especially for auto repair. I think it’s a good deal.

The set seems to be well made, I haven’t had the opportunity to use it yet but looking they’re ground flutes and look good with exception to the smaller sizes where to chamfers are a little strange looking.

I was looking for a metric tap and die set that included some of the larger metric bolt sizes and after reading the reviews, decided to take a chance on this set. I must say, I was initially impressed by the quality of the blow-mold case alone, which frankly, tends to be a decent sign when buying tools of this sort. But upon opening the case and inspecting the tooling inside I was further impressed. I've not used all the taps or dies yet, but I have used a few and they have all performed flawlessly. The tap holder worked very well (even better than the one in my old Craftsman set) and I really have nothing negative to say about this set. Now that I've experienced this metric set, I'm seriously considering getting an SAE set if they offer one.

Here is the deal ... I do a lot of DYI auto repair and show car work for myself and friends. Busting a bolt or messing up a nut and destroying threads happens more than we like. I have several older partial tap & die sets (Metric & SAE) and have been looking a a decent (without spending crazy money complete set for both.)I determined to get all the sizes and pitches (esp for metric) you need to get two seperate sets (metric & SAE) I was hoping for everything in one. This set has .75, 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, and 1.75 pitches, which is all of them. You are not going to get all of these pitches in a combo set. Example Subaru wheel lugs take a 12x1.25 this pitch is not in many sets.The case is solid, the tools look well made. Talk to me in a few years, I will tell you how they hold up. But, I see no issue with these tools. Will up date this review upon further use of the set.5-stars so far, everything you need metric at a reasonable price.

Great set to have for those uh-oh moments that we come across at one point. I’m a full time automotive technician and this is a must have kit to have. I used to have a really cheap set that didn’t have a lot of the sizes that I needed. This set includes every size imaginable in metric sizes. I put it to use the day after! No joke, the day after I got this set, I came across a messed up thread on an intake manifold. I successfully repaired it using this kit. Also, I want to mention that I did use a red paint marker to outline the sizes to read them more clearly. overall great set.

Although this set is not made out of high quality material, it is still pretty darn good and at a very good value. Really enjoy having this set around for when those special projects come in. For the typical hobbyist, this is the perfect set. Very much recommended.

Do not use in aluminum. I bought this tap set because I have to fix and clean threads in transmission housings, I found that the taps are from .010 to .015 mm larger in diameter and will ultimately ruin your threads. Unfortunately I had an apprentice use these in a housing and he ended up messing up all the threads. Your fasteners will not torque to specified torque, threads will strip because taps are bigger. I can’t recommend this product. The does seem to be the correct size.
