Buy the other K&M Alto Sax stand
I bought this stand for my Stephanhouser alto and it fits nicely in my bell. It does hold my horn, but it seems to slide slowwwly down and sideways, never falling out but looking precarious. I bought the alternative stand that K&M offers, which also fits inside the alto bell, and it seems much more solid, and is faster to assemble too. Additionally, the problem of the instrument sticking in the stand when picking it up is not as bad on the alternate model. I returned this one and am happy with the alternative. https://www.amazon.com/Stands-M-Alto-Saxophone-Stand-14330-000-55/dp/B00I41UPI4/

An Excellent Portable Stand
I've gone through a number of stands over the years and this is, by far, my favorite.A couple of what I consider it's top selling points: - It's Rock-Solid - I've seen my horn bumped a few times and the firm grip and low center of gravity have kept my horn safe - Super compact - folded it will fit in the bell of your horn - Great for doubling - if you kick it over, one of the legs sticks straight up in the air and acts as a flute/clarinet stand. I wouldn't put a soprano on it though. And now for the cons: - Pricey - you can get a Hamilton Chrome stand that folds down pretty well for less than half the price - Slower to assemble, disassemble than the Hamilton folding stands as well - will only cover one additional instrument - with many other stands you have two pegs for double - not sure about the longevity of the rubber foot covers, but they're ok so far - the stand holds onto your horn so well that you may need to hold the stand down while picking up your horn to separate themDespite the cons, I'm still a huge fan of this stand and recommend it to any saxophonist.

Does what it needs to do.
I like this stand. It does what it needs to do. It holds the saxophone securely, and doesn't let it fall. Then it can fold up and be stored in the bell, which is very convenient. The thing I don't like about it is the process of folding it and unpacking it. It takes a while to get good at it and get used to it, but after you do it's not much of an issue. Another thing is that it grips the sax a little too well, and that means it's hard to take the sax off the stand without pushing down on it with your foot so the stand doesn't come with it. I am not a huge fan of it for that reason, but it works, so I can't give it lower than what I gave it. I have yet to try the "jazz" stand but I've heard it solves this problem. Hope this helped.

I have purchased three of these over the years. I've lost one and broken one (my fault, not an indication of quality) and I keep comin' back for more. This is a great product and VERY convenient fit into the bell of my alto for storage.**I am a band director and performance musician in and around the Cincinnati, OH area.

Not stable
I liked the idea that it can be folded nicely into the bell of the sax but that's where the positives end. It is very unstable and can tip over from somebody just farting next to it. Would not put a saxophone worth more than $400 on this thing.

Exactly how the alto sax should look when placed correctly on stand
I have sent an email to the company for a picture of an alto sax actually positioned on the sax . I am not happy with the way my sax fits on the stand and might be returning it soon.

So easy to use once you know how - folds up into a nice small package that easily fits into the bell. And to be fair, this holds my sax just as stable as my Hercules. In future, I'd just go with these.

Could be sturdier. When placing the instrument on the stand one has to be really sure that it is positioned correctly otherwise it twists and falls off.

Prefer this to my previous Hercules stand
One reviewer has awarded 1 star saying that this stand is not big enough. It's true that the 'footprint' of this K&M stand is quite small and probably less than the Hercules BUT ... and it's a significant 'BUT' ... the stand keeps a sax much more firmly and it is very stable. I have had at least two near-calamities when my sax was nearly toppled out of a Hercules stand even though the stand itself didn't go over. The K&M looks flimsier but it holds a sax MUCH more firmly and you'd have to be an elephant to knock it over. As an added feature, when folded and put back into its strong carrybag, the whole thing can be tucked into the bell of your alto if you so wish. The stand is easily assembled once you've done it a couple of times and it dis-assembles just as easily. In fact, I tend to keep mine fully assembled inside my music area where my sax is stored on a Stagg wallstand. This can be seen in one of the two photos I'm attaching which was primarily used for a review of the Stagg. The K&M is bottom right.I am so happy with, and confident about, the K&M stand that my Hercules has gone for donation to a charity shop. Yes, the K&M is small but that is no reason to give it one star. It's a superb stand.

Small & light and easy to carry inside the saxophone bell instead of having to carry another bag. The only criticism I have is very small and that is that when the sax is on the stand, it is very tight on the bell, so I have to remember to put my foot on the stand before I pick the instrument up or I get the stand as well!! Over all, I am very pleased with it and it makes travelling around with my saxophone much easier.

The best stand for a saxophone player
The best stand for a saxophone player.Yes, it might be much more expensive than many of its competitors, but the ability to store this stand in the bell of the saxophone makes the Konig & Meyer the no-nonsense choice for saxophonists, it is so convenient. If you're wanting a stand, stump up the money and buy this - you'll not regret it.
