Perler Beads Pen Bead Dispenser Kid's Crafts, 1 pc, Lime Green

I've been doing perler bead art for years and finally broke down and bought one of these. This purchase exceeded my expectations and works SO well I ordered 6 of them for me and my kid to share. You shake the beads to get them in the chute but then it dispenses so easily. Definitely a must have if you're doing bead art.

The perler bead tool I didn’t know I needed. It’s perfect for dispensing onto your trays. Easy to fill and easy to use.

They take some getting used to, and you’ll get better at these, but it never gets easy. You have to concentrate, have steady hands, and pull the trigger smoothly to lay the beads on. You will need good lighting, and wear your glasses if you need them. Your eyes will get exhausted. I’m an artist slash doodler, so my hands are really steady. I used this pen to lay down a bunch of one color beads, but they do not work well in tight areas. Adding a straw to the tip and cutting the excess helps a little. The trigger gets jammed and sometimes takes force to press, so it will have your pen moving and beads not landing right. However, I think the pen was somewhat an investment and it did help me save a little bit of time, from the arm movements when you get beads with tweezers and move your hand to place them on the board. With the pen, you don’t gave to move your arm back and forth to get beads. What slowed me down the most was having to shake the pen to get the beads into the chamber. 75-80% of the time was spent on doing this. Me and my cousin were laying down beads. He was using tweezers and me, the pen. He was going twice as fast as me on his perlers because I was busy shaking the pen most of the time. I got really good at techniques for shaking the pen, but even that didn’t help me enough.

Perler should be ashamed. Tried using the pen and it worked for 1 bead and and then started jamming -- even without any beads in it. Button sticks in the "down" position. Fiddling with the button (pushing it and wiggling the button side to side) for about 30 seconds will cause it to eventually unjam and return to the "up" position. Once unjammed, a single button press results in it jamming again, every time. Ordered a replacement from Amazon, arrived very quickly. Opened the replacement, the button is jammed right out of the box, but in just the OPPOSITE way. You can't push the button down without fiddling with it for 30 seconds. Completely useless. Never even got so far as to actually put peads into the second one. No signs of internal damage, defective gears, or anything in either one. Just a worthless, totally unusable, poorly designed product. Perler should pull the product entirely and completely redesign or overhaul the manufacturing process. Shipping both back to Amazon for a full refund of both -- very thankful for Amazon's awesome customer service.
