Wordlock CL-409-BL Combination Resettable Cable Lock (Blue), Normal

I only needed a lock that I could use when I was riding my bike to lunch or dinner in downtown Denver since most other bike rides I'm not leaving my bike unattended. This is a great simple lock if you just want a nice deterrent to keep someone from snatching your bike. It was easy to code and fits on my blue bike nicely. It is just long enough to wrap through the front tire and frame and loop through a bike rack. I never plan to leave my bike out of my site and for the price, it just gives me enough peace of mind that no one will snatch it and run off. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who plans to leave a bike unattended in an unsafe area, but since I store my bike in my garage and don't lock my bike up unattended in unsafe areas, this lock is exactly what I needed. Don't fool yourself and buy this if you plan to look your bike up for long periods of time outside, someone could easily snip through this cable if they were on the prowl.

This is similar to other combo locks you may have had in the past. You get a generic combo, which you can change my clicking the inner dial to "SET" and switching to a word you prefer. Simply turn the dial back to lock in this password.With 10 letters per column, you get 10,000 combinations...but obviously not all of these word combinations make sense. In my opinion though, it's a little more confusing for someone to try and sit through 10,000 letter combinations than it is to count from 0-9999 if they were trying to break in that way...BUT, the clip is the best part. You can see it in the image to the left of the letters on the cable. Simply screw the attachment to your bike seat, and you can click the cable in with an easy snap. Depress the red button on the attachment to release the cable lock and you are on your way. It provides a very easy, convenient, and unobtrusive way to keep your lock handy. I think this alone makes it superior to other locks.

This lock works great and is easy to set your own word combination. The qualty of the lock is great, but the plastic holder that mounts to the set post and hold the lock is flmsy plastic and broke within a week. I fxed it with a hose clamp and it seems to work ok now. Great lock though for lower crime areas.

We bought this lock for our 5 year old kid for their first bike in 2010. The kid is now 15, 3 bikes later, and still uses this lock - works perfectly. Full stop, this thing works, is solid, easy to use, and DURABLE.

A thief with the right tools can probably cut any type of locking cables, but these are nice to have in the average environment. Programming is very simple and I like the way they can be easily removed from the piece that fastens them to your bike. If you are going out on a trail you can just quickly disconnect them and leave them in your car. I also like the fact that you don't have to worry about losing a key. They seem to be well made and they work well.

Easy setup from preset code to reset to my own code. I have bought similar other locks and this one seems more sturdy and is inexpensive.

This lock turned out to be bigger and heavier that anticipated. That said, it's still a great product. The dials turn easily and the instruction to change the lock code were clear and easy to follow.

Chose this for my 8 year old son who has started riding his bike to school. Safe neighborhood, but this is an added deterrent for anyone thinking of taking it for an unauthorized ride. LOVE the letter function, as I am horrible at remembering number combinations. And the laughs you'll get from the chosen 4-letter-word combos are priceless at this age! One of the plastic pieces that bridge the gap between the cable and combo portions came loose after a couple of uses. Didn't affect the function, just kind of annoying. Glued it back together no problem but this isn't your most heavy-duty theft-proof lock. Serves our purpose just fine. Haven't used the included bike mount - easier for him to wrap this around the crossbar or toss onto his handle bar while in transit.
