UPDATED.......Need an external probe, but... it's okay.
Off by a few degrees. I set the temp to 80⁰ but I have an external thermometer probe and it never goes above 77.7⁰ which is not so bad, because I really only want the actual temp about 78⁰ anyway.UPDATE: Purchases in November, now 5 months later, it's going wonky. Set to 80 in Nov, never changed it. Yesterday my water was 86⁰! I'm LUCKY my livestock (especially expensive fish, my starfish, shrimp and anemones) are still alive. Luckily I caught it in time. Make sure you use an EXTERNAL thermometer. Don't trust the built-in.

Works really well
Easy to use, accuracy is good, although you may need to fine tune the settings for you tank. Set at 80 it keeps mine consistently at 78. It’s so convenient to have the heater control outside of the tank, and adjusting the temperature up or down is easy. I called the company about the “cooked fish” negative reviews, and the rep said that was in isolated cases where there wasn’t adequate water flow. The temperature sensor for mine is near where the water flows out from the filter, and it works great.

Accurate and reliable.
I’ve been using this heater in a 20 gallon NANO reef tank. It’s worked with no problems so far. It’s controlled using an APEX controller and this units controller is for backup. This unit works great with the APEX turning on and off the power when the heat needs to come on. It holds its settings with no issues. I fully expect that if the apex fails this unit will turn off at the set temp. The controller it comes with is very accurate. I checked the indicated temp against a certified thermometer and it’s spot on.I will be buying a couple more to have on hand and for a couple quarantine tanks I’m setting up.

Like it
Keeps everyone happy in the tank. I keep the house at 63 degree's during the winter months, this maintains the tank at a good 78 to 80 degrees.

Error rate high
I'm very disappointed in this heater. Despite all the negative reviews I decided to take a chance with it. It worked great for about 2 weeks and then the heater would not heat like it was supposed to. I had a separate thermometer to keep track of this as well. In just over a month, it had gone from an accuracy rate of being off by 2 degrees, which is within the manufacturers accuracy rate, to a whooping 20 degrees off. I had the heater set at 88 and the tank would not get above 68 degrees. When I removed the heater, it fell apart and I had to scoop pieces out of it to prevent my turtle from eating it. Save yourself the trouble and money and buy a better quality heater.

company does not warranty product purchased from Amazon
Really liked this at first so I bought three.2 bought months apart failed simultaneously.Contacted manufacturer. They only wanted to communicate via e-mailThey were courteous.after several back and forth e-mails they said"it was purchased from an unauthorized dealer and the products could not be warrantied.""The heater failed because 'one heater over heated the other'" WHAT???????I offered to mail the heaters to them, at my own cost, they said "they couldn't warranty or evaluate the heaters for defects."Congrats Aquatop, I will likely spend $1,000's of dollars in fish supplies/hardware over the coming months to years and $0.00 will be to your company!

Good
Temperature control is not great. Product still works you just have to be aware it’s going to heat a few degrees hot. I have product by my fluval FX6 outflow.
