this was cheaper than local stores
This is a good multi use primer that has good drying time, coverage and grain and stain blocking ability. It is pretty hard when it dries and it is not easy sanding so I would not reccomend as an enamel under coating for a whole house of new woodwork or multiple doors or cabinets (raw wood). Get an easy sanding under coater for these type projects. Will stick to almost any clean surface including lacquer, polyurethane, glossy enamel. Also a good exterior spot primer. I total primed new plywood soffit material with this primer and coated with a good acrylic latex top coat more than 25 years ago, and there is not one peeling area, when I wash it it looks like new!

Great primer
Please note, this is an oil based primer so you will need to prepare for brush cleaning more extensively than just cleaning it in the sink. Adhesion was great. The product consistency was great. It was easy to apply. The odor quickly dissipated with open windows and a ceiling fan.

The Best
Minimal sanding needed to prep my kitchen cabinets for this primer then paint. It smells very strong and I didn't try to wash out the brush and roller, just tossed them. It's great stuff!

Works well but TOXIC fumes
Beautiful prep finish but the smell was severe. I will not use again because it is oil-based but I used it for a bathroom door. I'm switching to the water base because the smell is too toxic and overpowering. Water-based is a bit more safe I think.

Great stuff
As always, this is the best stuff even if it is oil based. To get it off your skin (because I am a very messy painter) use a little hand lotion of mineral oil on it and it comes right off.Don't forget to check your elbows and the backs of your legs if you wore shorts while painting. People at the grocery store will ask if you've been painting and you'll look at them like "how did they know!?" Again, I am a very messy painter! People

Sealant
Always works well as a sealer primer

Painted over very old wallpaper.
I ended up needing 3 cans to paint a very old wallpaper. Removed all loose wallpaper and cleaned what I could. Had to leave the States up to keep the wall up. The smell is strong, thickness great, and the wall textured perfectly after sealing with this oil based primer. This stuff is great to keep on hand! If you rip drywall to the paper you can add a little if this sealant and then proceed as usual once dry. It dried in about 30 minutes for me on a hot 80 degree summer day.
