Tony Little - Target Training - Total Body Shape-Up & Maintenance [VHS]

Decent total body workout...
This is the best tape in Tony's Target Training series, it hits the total body (except abs) in about 45 minutes although the video itself is about an hour. The first 15-20 minutes are spent demonstrating each of the exercises that are in the workout, which is good for those that may be unsure how to do them properly. Tony has 2 exercise model assistants who demonstrate. The first part of the program is the active warmup, which is basically marching in place for a few minutes, followed by static stretching which is a little more thorough. I personally would have liked to have seen the warmup itself be a little longer but one could always start their warmup earlier during the demonstrations. Tony is exercising by himself on a circular carpeted platform and he has 2 sets of weights nearby, one light and one heavy. Although you could use no weights if you choose. Then it's onto the workout. There are 3 levels, beginner, intermediate and advanced. For the beginners, you will do the exercise for 30 seconds, intermediates 60 seconds, and advanced anywhere from 90-120 seconds. All the muscle groups are hit, starting with legs you will do squats, wide stance squats, and lying side leg lifts. Then you will do one arm rows for back, modified pushups and crossovers for chest. Crossovers being an exercise I have never seen in another video, you will cross your hands in front of each other while lifting the upper body slightly. I personally didn't care for this exercise so I subbed pec flies and bench presses instead. Then you will move onto shoulders with overhead preses, and side lateral raises, then triceps with one arm kickbacks, and bicep curls which finish out the upper body segment. Then you will go back to legs for the final exercise which is calf raises before the cooldown and stretch.I like this video, although I would consider it a hi-rep low weight workout since you are not counting reps, but seconds. I used very light weights and could really feel it after 60-90 seconds. I normally use heavier weights for strength videos so I thought this was a nice change of pace, plus it is a good workout for days that you aren't up to anything taxing but still want to work your muscles. Tony is his enthusiastic self, he is not for everyone but I thought he did a decent job. His form is not the best for all the exercises, the model assistants will pop up during each of the exercises and they demonstrate good form so they would be good to follow. Motivational pictures will also pop up here and there as well. The music is okay, nothing spectacular and the setting is a bit dark. This workout would be suitable for beginner/intermediate levels, advanced may find this too easy and/or boring.

Just what I was looking for ..
I had this video tape a while back & loved it !! Tony takes you thru all your major muscles to work on .. I found that the exercises really started showing definition! I was very upset when I could not find it after I moved. When I saw it here & purchased it - it all came back to me! I love this tape !!(This is before Tony Little Gazelle exercises)

Great Workout
This is a great workout. No machines required. One uses one's own body and may add dumbbells to add resistance once proper exercise technique is mastered and/or as one fitness level increases. This DVD includes the same workouts as the VHS tape by the same title ... and yes, it does include the crossovers which workouts a combination of muscles including the abdomen. I believe it is the only exercise which is expressly stated that it works out the abs. When the exercise is done properly, one definitely feels it in the abs.Tony Little recommends exercising 6 days a week: 3 alternate days the DVD and the other 3 cardio such as walking outdoors or on treadmill, biking outside or on an exercise bike, etc.It is a great DVD and will help one lose weight and tone up. That said, it is not a magic DVD. One has to do the exercise and to follow a proper diet.I would recommend this title to friends and family without hesitation.

Great Total Body Workout
This is the best Workout Video I have ever used. It gives good pointers on how to avoid injury and shape up quickly. It also has the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels so you can go at your own pace. I used it for 10 years and then the video got mangled up in my machine. Where could I get another video? I finally found one in another language in a recycle shop. I used that for about 10 years as well. Now I needed a new one. Where could I get it? I decided to check Amazon. And what do you know? No more searching. I`ve got it. Thank you.

good but boring
This was my first Tony Little workout video. It is very intense with using both weightlifting and aerobics and it will make you sweat. Tony was also good at trying to motivate us during the workout. But it also appears cheaply done. Tony stands on a gray carpeted circle with purple sparkles around it, kind of looks like a UFO, with just a plain black background. It is pretty boring to watch so I haven't used it as much as other workout videos.

Target Training
I purchased the Tony Little target training on VHS when it originally came out in 1999. I like the bun & thigh edition and the ab workout edition. I decided it was time to upgrade to DVD so i ordered this total body shape up dvd. I was disappointed to find that it does include bun & thigh workouts and arm, chest , & back- but NO AB Workouts. Without the ab workout i don't believe that it qualifies as total body.

A Good Workout!
I had the same tape years ago and it's just a wonderful full body work out. The style on Tony is a little outdated but you can get beyond that.
