First Available Cell: Desegregation of the Texas Prison System

A must read!
I bought this book because it was a required read for my college corrections class. It is very interesting and gives different insites into the issues with desegregating Texas prisons. Not only does it give details about the issues within and between the government and prison administration, but it also gives inmate opinions on the decision to desegregate Texas prisons. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interested in this topic. I found it to be very well written and interesting to read.

Informative but Dull
The book is a little dull, goes on too long, and the information could be more concise. I enjoyed the history aspect of the book but got really bored with all the statistics even though they were informative. I am taking Mr. Trulson's class so that is why I bought and read this book.
