Review: Forget The Rest, Buy This One! - I have a steel 4x4 fence post with gate hinges bolted to it. The winds here battered my fence and gate over the years and eventually the bolts began getting pulled out on the bottom hinge and the bolts were over tightened which ultimately lead to hole being stripped out and the bolts not holding at all anymore. I went out and drilled a larger hole and bought two new larger bolts but they just didn't thread in properly and so that was the end of that and if I went to the next larger size bolt, the head would've been too large to even get in there to tighten it. So here we are, I discovered rivet nuts by chance and *BAM*, I knew this was my solution! I may have seen or heard of them before as I'm a regular tool using and accumulating guy, but I don't recall. So now to decide which one to buy...well there's a lot of similar ones like this unit under different brand names but I'm always willing to spend more to get more so I won't end up regretting not having more later and this one fits the bill. This has 15, (YES 15!) mandrels (and inserts), more than any other I found...now I'm pretty well set for anything in the future. And what's more, the price is hard to beat. So, my package was due to arrive today and the winds were battering my gate once again and blew out the brace I had against it to hold it from tearing the top hinge off so this literally arrived just in time. I found the insert that best fit my already existing hole so there was no more drilling, found two bolts in my vast hardware stash so I didn't have to buy any at the hardware store and with a quick change to the correct size mandrel, I was ready to go. This 16" unit is so very easy to pull, I originally considered a HF model but it's only 10" (and only has a few mandrels with it and it costs the same as this unit) but I knew the extra leverage would be beneficial. Keep in mind, when you pull the handles, the objective is not to get them completely straight or "closed"...as soon as the handles won't move anymore with mild squeezing, your rivet nut insert is set and your job is complete. Don't keep squeezing! These work so smoothly and easily and the handles were still opened quite a bit (they didn't feel like they moved all that much) that I swore the inserts couldn't possibly be set already. Well they were. I fastened up my bolts and I was good to go. My gate's working perfectly again after I don't know how long, 3 years? And the wind is still beating on it as i write this and it's not moving! This product is outstanding, nice quality, thoughtfully packaged and labeled and one heck of a deal. I had no idea how to resolve my issue, I have never been so excited to get an desertcart package or a new tool like I was while waiting for the extra late mail lady to show up today. Anyway, don't look at the others being offered, THIS IS the one you want! Buy it! Review: Solid build construction - great price - Hubby asked me to order one of these so he could fix The garage door. This was the most affordable hand rivet I could find with the best reviews. The bolt holes had been stripped and he wanted an actual threaded hole rather than just sheet metal. This worked perfectly and so much more cost effective than hiring someone to fix it. It has come in handy much more than he anticipated. He also utilized it to install custom shelving in our basement. It’s a quality tool, designed to last, solid and durable. Also The handles are nicely cushioned saving his hands from calluses and making it comfortable to use. Very happy with this purchase.

Works with some practice
Instructions are just barely adequate, they tell you what to do on a basic level. Tried to use the 8-32 mandrel and the first time it stripped the rivnut, second time the mandrel broke. I think this was mostly my fault though so let me provide some tips: 1. Make sure the rivnut is screwed onto the mandrel as far as it can go, it’s good if the mandrel threads are slightly protruding out the other side of the rivnut. 2. At first it’s a little hard to know when to stop with the clamp tool. You’ll feel a bit of higher resistance until the nut starts to deform, then the resistance decreases some while it’s being pulled around the sheet metal, and then it’ll start tightening up again. This increase in resistance is when you stop! The rivnut will be well secured by this point so don’t try to snug it down at all. Otherwise I’m impressed by the value for money in terms of how many pieces are in the kit, just wish it came with some kind of box or organizer to keep everything in. Overall I’m happy with the purchase

Ideal rivet nut setter tool
This rivet nut setter tool is ideal for my work as a food service technician. The range of sizes in SAE and Metric almost guarantees you'll be able to complete your job and the thread pitch for each size is common. I have already used this for several jobs including installing a Plexiglas sneeze guard which included drilling all new holes and replacing a damaged rivet nut in an oven, far easier with this setter than my lever style setter as long as there is sufficient room in front for the tool to fit.

Very nice tool, good assortment of mandrels
Had no problem setting 3/8 inch stainless steel rivnuts for my project. The tool felt solid and didn't strain to set the harder stainless steel material in one of the largest sizes I had. Only the 1/2 inch is larger, but I didn't have a need to use any of those. This tool and rivnut set is an excellent value, especially if you can get it on sale, like I did. Just be careful when setting smaller size inserts, to avoid breaking the mandrels.

I borrowed a cheaper tool, used it once, and bought this. It worked well.
I borrowed a cheaper tool, used it once, and bought this. The difference was amazing, and it did a fine job. The tool feel good in the hands, and the force was easy to apply to set the rivnuts. Alas, I only needed the tool, as my present use requires either Aluminum and Stainless Steel rivnuts, in only one SAE size. Now, I have a bag full of stuff I might never use. But, it is said that it is better to have it and not need, than to need it and not have it. My only concern now is the possibility of a replacement mandrel, if ever needed, but, since I'll be using the same one for some time, I'm likely to need to replace it as some point.

Paid for itself on the first project. Excellent addition to the tool box.
Anyone that has put on Jeep fenders has had to deal with riveting and knows the "rivet" tool these fenders come with is more trouble than its worth and often adds a few hours to a fender install due to unplanned trips to the hardware store to buy replacement rivets. This rivet tool works as designed. It comes with plenty of dies. All the sizes you might need working on a Jeep. Likely all the sizes you might need on most vehicles. The construction is good, the handles are strong and it works as designed. Saved at least 2 hours on the first fender install and followed it up by making short work of a an after market bumper blank install. Worth the money and not your bargain basement store construction. I am not a spokesman for the vendor or the manufacturer or for Amazon, I am just a happy customer. Would buy this again.

Strong, but a bit fiddly and easy to strip a rivnut if it is not adjusted just right.
The trick with this is to get the stroke set so that you don't over compress the rivet it and strip it. For the 10-32 nuts that I was installing, it took several strokes (2-3), so you had to do it by feel, as too much compression on the last stroke was prone to blowing the rivnut out. If I was doing many of these, I would probably use this for the initial set, and a torque limited impact driver and a bolt to set the nut the rest of the way to prevent over tightening the rivnut. So, the tool is fine, the mandrels seem to be made of pretty hard steel, but the design doesn't have a torque limit on it.

Great Riv-nut kit
Have used many brands of riv-nut kits over the years and have been more than happy with this kit for the times where handle lengths aren’t a concern. The installer is very easy to use and the riv-nuts that come with the kit are better quality than I expected. Haven’t had a single nut failure to date installing in different types of parent material. If you have the room to use this installer you’ll be very happy with your purchase.

Excellent tool for blind rivets
I bought this tool so I could put bed rails on my 1986 Chevy El Camino. Over the years the factory drilled holes became out of round and the original machine screws could not hold the rails tight to the quarter panels. I drilled new holes and used the correct size blind rivets with this tool and man is it slick as can be! The crimping tool is built with quality in mind and there is I think 150 blind rivets for fastening things of all sizes in the kit. I only needed 12 rivets out of this kit so this tool will probably be passed down a few generations before everything is used up lol! This was still the least expensive way to go because body shops quoted an hours labor at $175 plus shop supplies to perform the same task this tool did at $48!

Works well
Was able to put rivnuts into my cylindrical running boards and reattach to truck. Previous side was repaired by a welder (welded nut to hole) at a cost of $100. The only problem with the previous repair was that he ground down the chrome to do the welding thereby exposing the underlying metal to rusting. This repair is better, cost less, and I have a tool for other jobs. Well worth the purchase price even for a single usage.
