Great item !
This was exactly what we needed to review and clear codes on our older Evinrude 225. We have a 2002 2 stroke 225 with Ficht. We couldn’t find a mechanic in the entire state of GA who would work on it (or could) so we bought the software, a repair manual and went to work. It was very easy to install - you do need Windows but worked fine on Windows 10 and 11. Company is very responsive to questions. Includes everything you need to connect to your computer and the boats ECM. The software itself is older but ran fine and had plenty of easy to follow steps to use. The UI is understandably limited but you’re working on something that’s 20+ years old. We were able to setup, connect, diagnose and clear the code within an hr. It saved us weeks of waiting for and trying to find a mechanic. Overall a great value and I highly recommend!!!

Peace of mind, and straightforward operation
My Evinrude ETEC-90 was doing some strange things and leaving me worried that I might not be able to get back to the ramp. In Florida summer waters of over 90F, my engine would run fine for most of the day, but then at the very end of our outing, around 2pm, it would lose power and die. I changed the spark plugs and got a new water separating fuel filter, but the same thing happened the next time I went out. Online research indicated that I needed to diagnose a possible issue with fuel injectors or ECM, so after a bit of further research, I bought this diagnostic adapter. I dug out an old Acer Netbook to install the software on. I needed to hook it up to an external monitor because the installation software needed more screen resolution than my netbook offered. I didn't dock a star from my review because even though the installation software could be more flexible, I really skimped on the computer that I'm using to run this tool with. After reviewing the usage instructions, I hooked it up, turned on the ignition, and got the first readings from the engine. All looked good. All looked really good. I was able to output a printable file that showed all of the diagnostics and history of the engine, and to determine that my problem didn't appear to be with the electronics (whew!). With a bit more research, I learned that I probably had a vapor-lock situation inside the engine's fuel recirculation reservoir caused by heat soak due to a combination of hot water temperature and an impeller that was overdue for replacement. This is an older bit of tech, but it's high value for anyone with a G1 ETEC engine (all ETEC engines under 115hp are G1). What I like: - It hooks right up to the engine. - It hooks right up to a laptop. - It works with an old Windows 7 netbook or a new Windows 11 laptop. - It shows the fault code history of the engine in an easily readable table. - It shows current engine trim and operating parameters if the engine is running. If I could have one extra thing, I'd ask for Bluetooth connectivity, but hey, it's old-tech. I give it 5 stars for good value and good functionality. I don't need to go to the Evinrude shop and leave my boat there for who knows how many weeks to get a diagnosis that will cost me more than this device, and then have the mechanic only guessing at what's wrong.

Awesome product
If you're a boat owner, you know that keeping your engine running smoothly is crucial. That's why I invested in the Evinrude Diagnostic kit + EvDiag, and let me tell you, it's like having a team of NASA engineers working on my boat's engine! The diagnostic kit is so advanced that it can detect even the tiniest of issues, and the EvDiag software is like a doctor's diagnosis for your boat's engine. The interface is so user-friendly that even a technologically challenged person like me can use it, and the results are so detailed that I feel like I'm reading a medical report. The only downside is that I now spend more time diagnosing my boat's engine than actually using it, but that's a small price to pay for the peace of mind that comes with knowing my engine is in top shape. If you want to be a responsible boat owner and ensure that your engine is running at its best, the Evinrude Diagnostic kit + EvDiag is the way to go. Just be prepared to feel like a boat engine expert and impress all your boating buddies with your advanced diagnostic skills.

Very pleased that Powersports made this available. But, the install procedure is flawed
<Edit to my original review: It seems I had difficulty because I followed the written instructions that came with it. But if instead, you just let the Autorun feature of the CD work, it goes much smoother. Which begs the question, why not just say that in the instructions? I have since had the opportunity to try out the software, and it worked great.> I have read great things about this software, and bought it upon the recommendation of folks on the e-Tec Owner's Group on Barnicle Bill's Marine Supply site. (Excellent resource, by the way). So I am confident the software will be useful. However, The instruction leaflet is out of date. The folder and file name on the leaflet do not match those on the CD. Well, I got around this initially by just running the Autorun file on the CD. But that only went so far. The instructions tell you to install two updates that are on the CD. But the folders it refers to do not exist on my CD! So what do I do now? The software itself tells you to go online and update it. Then it asks for dealer info. I am not a dealer. Honestly, how much trouble can it be to update the instructions?

Great product
Worked like a charm and easy to set up, very very pleased especially knowing that a lot of repair shops are phasing out evinrude support, so this software gives me piece of mind
