Great Male Brazlian! (Against Manufacturer's Warning)
First, I am using this to do a self full Brazilian. Local laser hair removal clinics wanted $250 a session for men, compared to $85 a session for women. They all said about 10 session are needed, so I was looking to spend at least $2,500 on hair removal down "there." I figured a $400 investment for a self-Brazilian was worth the risk. Second, the manufacture and FDA clearly warn that this is NOT for Brazilians and should not be used on genitals or anuses. So if you do use it there, do so at your own risk and against their warnings/recommendations. Also, at least test the skin color in those areas using the tool's skin test window as most people are darker down there, and it could result in serious skin burns on dark skin. I'm milk-white, so I wasn't worried. Third, it only works on dark hair. I have dark brown hair, white skin, so this worked perfectly for me. However, I do have some grey hair down there, so this won't work on those. If you have blond hair, this won't work! Fourth, It is a sensitive area and dense hair so I am only able to use it on number 4 setting. It feels like a rubber band snapping against my skin. This is not pain free, but neither is going to hair removal clinic. (I went to one session there, and this device feels the same.) Fifth, you have to do this right after you shave. The heat of the laser goes down the hair to the follicle. If you have long hair, this just doesn't work. Also, if you wax first, then you are shooting blanks (and there is a limited number of laser zaps in this thing). If there is no hair for the heat to travel down to burn/kill the follicle, then you are wasting your time. Do not wax! Sixth, your hair is in different stages of growth all the time. You continually lose hair and grow hair. You don't lose all your hair at once and regrow new hair. With that said, this ONLY kills the hair follicle if it is in the GROWTH stage. So you have to do multiple treatments because you will only be killing a small percentage of your hair follicles on each treatment. Expect about 10 treatments to get everything. In 3 treatments with this (four including the 1st one I did at the hair clinic), I have 60% less hair growth. I love it. It is saving me a ton of money. Only con is it treats a very small surface area. I have to pay attention and move across all the skin area in a grid pattern, moving about 1/4" at a time between zaps. It takes about 20 minutes for me to do my the entire Brazilian area, front and back.

but doing that with anything dark (like an ink pen or eye liner) would create dark spots that wouldn't be good for lasering
I was worried about this purchase, due to the price tag. That's a lot to gamble on something that might not work. I've had my Tria for a couple months now and done 4-5 treatments (more on some areas than others). There is a significant difference in the amount of hair. I've done my arm pits, bikini line, legs, and a few stray hairs here and there. (Thanks, Aging.) The legs are the hardest part because the treatment area on the laser is small--about the size of the diameter of a tub of chapstick. Moiving over your legs, it's difficult to tell exactly where you've treated. You almost need to draw a grid pattern on your legs so you can keep track, but doing that with anything dark (like an ink pen or eye liner) would create dark spots that wouldn't be good for lasering. So my legs are now bald in patches, with other patches that still have hair. Over time, I'm sure I'll get it all. But even now, I can go for more than a week without shaving and still feel okay wearing shorts. The bikini line is uncomfortable, but tolerable. In order to be able to use the laser on a higher setting (which is more effective), I used Numb Master, a product I bought on Amazon. After 4 treatments, the hair is much more sparse. When I shave, I no longer get red bumps or irritation, which I assume is because there is less hair and it's thinner. Again, I'm not done and I do need more treatments, but I can go longer without feeling overly furry. Same with my armpits. Most of the treatments I've done have been on level 3. Sometimes I push it to 4, but that can be a bit painful, and I'm okay with it taking a bit longer and hurting a but less. I've never braved level 5, though on certain areas of my legs it would probably be fine, but on others--no way, since 3 can really get my attention sometimes. I've also done my upper lip, which had just a few dark hairs. I have done either 4 or 5 treatments, and I think the hairs are completely gone and that I'm done treating that area. The first zap I did on my lip I set the laser to 1, because I wanted to be extra cautious about burns. It was fine, so I changed to 2. By the 3rd treatment, I was up to 3 .I never went higher than that. One note about shaving. The directions say to shave before treating. You really, really need to do this. A day's or maybe 2 day's growth is probably okay. But I put the laser on a totally unshaved area with thick hair and got a minor burn. No damage, but it HURT, and stayed red and a bit tender for a couple hours. I'd missed a patch when shaving and figured it wouldn't matter. It did!! For me, the full battery charge isn't quite enough to do pits, bikini (extensively) and both legs. I do bikini and pits one day, and legs the next. Overall, I'm very pleased that I bit the bullet and made this purchase. Overall, the money saved on shaving and waxing will pay for this before long.

Buyer Beware!
Buyer Beware!!! ---- Regardless of how well this product may or may not work for you, if ANYTHING happens to the sensitive electronics or the unit is splashed, dropped, or damaged in any way outside of its warranty period, you are STUCK with an expensive paper weight. There is NO exchange option, NO repair option, NO factory refurbish option...just simply: "Sorry, thanks for being a valued customer, please buy another unit" Although it did not impact my review or my customer experience, I recommend reading the "WHAT IS NOT COVERED..." section of their warranty. Basically, Tria has the right to argue that any product malfunction is a result of customer use/abuse and poof, you are out of luck. (To be fair, I have not compared this with their competition) Please keep this in mind if you choose to purchase this laser. Also, regardless of the integrity of the reviews these days keep in mind that almost 1/4, approximately 25% of all the people that purchase this unit have indicated ONE STAR (which means: "I HATE IT). To me, that speaks volumes. In my particular case, if I had not been forced to interact with Tria's customer service department, my rating would have been 4 stars; however, without having ANY useful customer support outside the warranty period, I feel like this is a sub-standard product, backed up by a sub-standard company...here's why: Shortly after my warranty expired, my unit was accidentally knocked off the counter and the LCD screen was damaged. It seems that the unit still works but with the screen being unreadable, the unit is useless. I politely emailed Tria's customer service and inquired if there was a PAID repair service or if I could PURCHASE replacement parts. I informed them upfront that my unit was outside of my 12 month limited warranty (which by the way starts the minute you purchase the unit). After multiple back and forth emails and sending them a copy of the Amazon invoice, the final answer from the THIRD representative was that they could do nothing, and I would have to buy another unit. I suppose to be fair, I should mention that they did refer me to 20% discount (offered to anyone) on their website. POOR customer service in my opinion. I will be checking out the competition for sure and not buying from TRIA again.

Did not work for me - but good luck if you give it a try!
I really wanted this to work. I'm fair with dark hair, so the perfect candidate (I thought). I used the setting on max & barely felt any pain. At the same time I bought this, I also started getting professional laser removal on my bikini, underarms & legs (which is REALLY expensive -- but is working). I bought this to see if I could achieve similar results & same some $$ for my arms. Alas, it didn't work for me. FULL DISCLOSURE - I did not follow the instructions perfectly - so this may work for you. Also, everyone's hair/skin is different -- so you can give it a try. But I think to avoid lawsuits, the company has it at a really low power-setting (the professional ones really hurt, cause skin irritation & probably can permanently scar you). This device takes a lot of time, doesn't hurt your skin at all & doesn't seem to really impact the body hair either. It is almost impossible to cover a large area with the device because its aperture is so small -- so I figured I would concentrate on 3 dark, thick hairs on my neck and chin. I zapped and zapped and zapped several times in a session, multiple times in a week, and several weeks in a row for months (this use is NOT per instructions - you are supposed to treat 1x every 2 weeks - and I also plucked them out after the zapping because it would drive me nuts to have those hairs on my face (which is also against instructions)). What I achieved was a slowing of growth of those hairs + they got somewhat finer. I haven't seen any difference in the hair on my arms (but I wasn't a precision user to cover the area perfectly & I can't say I did it with the same amount of frequency/ferocity as with the hairs on my chin). I wasn't expecting great results -- but I was hoping to achieve some thinning of hair on my arms & permanent removal of the hairs on my face/neck. I could have justified the expense if it got rid of the dark hairs on my face, but I can't recommend this product given my outcome. This is a 2-star review, not a 1-star review because I didn't follow the instructions. But I don't think many people do - so I'm not willing to give it a 3-star either. I also wish I had read a review like this in the first place, because I think I wasted my money on this product (which I will still be using in the hope that with repeated zapping, I can at least get rid of these three hairs. If I ever do, I will update this review & will give it another star). Hope springs eternal!

It appears to be working!
I bought the Tria Laser in August. I have an olive complexion and lots of coarse, black body hair. My main target areas are upper lip, underarms, and bikini...but I would eventually like to do legs and arms as well. I have quite a summer tan right now so I'm allowing my skin tone to pale some so that it won't hurt as much (hopefully). I am on my 2nd and 3rd treatments in the above mentioned areas at this point. I have to admit ladies, I was fairly surprised at how much it hurt. I've had 2 kids so I truly felt my pain tolerance would be pretty high but this stings pretty good. To me, it feels like someone is taking a very fine, very hot needle and piercing my skin momentarily with it. The sting doesn't last beyond those couple of seconds, but it's tough. I was a little depressed after my first session because I could only tolerate a setting of 2 or 3 at most. I was feeling as though I had wasted my money and I would never see results because I couldn't tolerate the pain. But it's true that it hurts less the further into your sessions that you get. As you kill some of the hair follicles, the pain diminishes slightly each time. I also found that icing the area just prior to lasering helped. On my lower bikini area, I applied EMLA (lidocaine) topical cream about 45 min before I lasered too. I will tell you, I don't know how anyone can laser themselves "down below" - I'm having my husband do it because it's tough to inflict pain on yourself...I find myself lifting the laser up at the moment it discharges and then I have to do it again. BUT, I have started to see the hair in my bikini area fall out! It's pretty amazing to start seeing results - the hair kind of looks like it is trying to become an in-grown hair and when I pick at it a little bit it just falls out. Yay! Can't wait to continue my sessions and see what my permanent results will be. I will try to update this as I go along. So far though, I give it a thumbs up!

So far, so good
I have had this thing for less than 6 hours so this is NOT a progress review yet! However, I thought I would comment on the pain. Let me start first by saying my pain tolerance is about average at first, until adrenaline starts to kick in. My hair is thick, dark, and very coarse so more times than not, it comes back ingrown if i wax or pluck. I have gotten 3 sessions of professional laser hair removal on my chest by LaserAway with their "rubber-band" laser and 3 sessions of laser hair removal on my stomach with a different laser at a local clinic, more of a continuous beam that they roll across the skin which produces warmth and (if the hair is thick) you can feel the pain in the roots as it rolls over but it is mild. I have also gotten 6 hours of electrolysis on my cheeks, neck and chin. Okay! There is my history. Basically, I have tried many things and am still doing them but its expensive so I opted to buy this little device for the tops of my thighs (where I shave but they ALL grow back ingrown and irritated). I have only tried this on my arms so far because I wanted to see how the pain is. I have only doing my left arm and will write an updated review in 2 weeks to see the difference between my left and right arms. Level 3 and level 5 feels absolutely no different, the laser for level 5 just lasts longer thus lengthening the pain but it does not hurt MORE persey imo. Charging time is quick. So far I have no complaints. UPDATE: I have done about 2 sessions with this thing on my cheeks, neck and sideburn area. I AM A BELIEVER. Dont bother with professional laser or IPL! This thing gives the BEST results I have seen from any professional laser place. However, I highly recommend using a lidocaine numbing cream if you are using level 5 for a prolonged period of time. I used level 5 on my neck and face and I even got a blister (which subsided the next day but still). The hairs will start to fall out about a week after you zap them. So far I can say about 60-70% (probably more!) of all my targeted hairs have NOT grown back after a month. I could not recommend this thing anymore, yes it hurts but its worth it. You are saving thousands of dollars on professional treatment and in the comfort of your own home. I love this thing! Update: I've had this laser for almost a year now. I stopped layering for about 6 months to see if the growth was substantial after not using it for a while. Happy to report that, the hair stayed thin! I've started back up again, doing spot treatments. Although it doesn't exactly get rid of some of my hairs, it has effectively taken the pigment out of the hair, so they come back blonde (which unfortunately only electrolysis can get rid of). This is a huge relief to me though because I could grow back shadow before. Now I can go 3-4 days without shaving my face and still have the hairs be unnoticeable. Also, the more you use it, the less it hurts. The pigment of the hair will lighten and the pain won't be as bad. Before.. I had to use numbing cream and a painkiller, wait 30 minutes before lasering and it was a huge deal that took a lot of time. Now ever 2-4 weeks I'll just bust the thing out, spot treat a couple areas, takes like 10 minutes. Pain is minimal now, slight sting even though I'm using level 5. I don't need numbing cream or painkillers anymore

Painful better numb
Well I did see a difference in how much hair growth I had however that was after 2 months every other week one month then once per week after that I suggest doing it once a week. It's charge does not last very long so if you plan on doing your legs expect it to take all day the laser is rather small and hard to see where you have and have not done. You have to have it at max power for best results but it stings something awful may want to numb the area your going to do before use. I think I would rather be stung by a bee

Not great performance
I bought it more than two years ago. It was a huge investment for me but it has not worked as advertised. I didn’t use it continuously in the beginning but now for almost six months I have tried it. But the results are nowhere near good. You see some effect but not as much as promised. The battery life is also very bad, in half hour the full charging is lost so you need to make breaks between long sessions which is very irritating. Also the head is very small so it takes a huge amount of time for larger areas. I am going to buy an IPL device and will see if the results improve or change.

Fantastic machine
for years I struggled with hairy arms, legs and I have tried everything possible. This is the best thing ever!!!! I have done 4 sessions and I can see results already. Hair on my arms are thinner, lighter and grow much much slower. the other day I could not remember when I shaved last time on my arms. My legs do not need shaving as they use to and I can see areas where hair does not grow. I will carry on using the machine but already happy with the results. People complained about activating the machine but who cares if the machine does work. the other complains were that the battery does not last very long. Who care if it works. I normally just do my arms, and then legs another evening, I think it lasts about 30 mins and recharging takes approx. 2 hours. I was bit hesitant spending so much money on this but would pay double now knowing how well it works. I started on number 3 and now can do number 4. I would recommend starting on lower setting. The best way to describe how it feels is warmth, it can pinch sometimes but nothing comparison to epilating!!. I am very happy with my purchase and definitely would recommend.

Even if that's the best result I'm going to get
I have not used it long enough to say it removed hair permanently, but I can for sure say I used to have to shave every 3 days, and now after only a few weeks of use, I only have to shave once a week and there is less hair than when I shaved every 3 days. Even if that's the best result I'm going to get, I'm totally satisfied and have told all my friends about it. Way cheaper and more convenient than getting it done at the spa.

Low battery life
It does what it is intended to perfectly, I was happy with the results. Unfortunately, the battery has died very quickly and Tria European support simply ignored all my requests,
