A review and some tips learned from experience
I decided to build a simple home network to support the 1Gbt net connection coming into my home. I wired a switch and 5 connections including a wireless extender so I had both wired and wireless coverage. This kit was all that I needed to make my own patch cables. The crimper is a solid tool with the ability to crimp regular and pass-through connectors. All of the other pieces did the job. The two part tester did a flawless job of checking continuity. The stripper was easy to use. Be sure to buy Cat 6 RJ 45 connectors If using Cat 6 cable. Learning the knack of putting the RJ45 on was the biggest challenge I ran into. Buy the pass through connectors from amazon as they are not usually found in stores.. I was pleasantly surprised by this kit. The stripper and the tester looked cheap but both worked flawlessly. I used a wire cutter for cutting cable but utility scissors will do. Tips: Plan your network and make a diagram before doing anything else. Measure twice, add some extra, cut once... Buy extra Ethernet cable and add about 20% more to each run. Cable is cheap and having extra allows you to change the location of a device if needed. Re check your cable connections before fastening cable to joists I used a 3/4 inch spade bit to drill holes for Cat 6 cables. Three cables with shields can be run through that diameter. Use Cat 6 cable for home networks. Cat 7 is more expensive to install and doesn’t offer a significant benefit over Cat 6. Be aware that cable comes in different diameters. Make sure that your cable end shields And your RJ 45 connectors.will fit on the cable being used. Cat 6 cable is usually either 23 awg or 24 awg. The smaller number means the cable is thicker. Buy network supplies on line. I was able buy 250 feet of Cat 6, this kit and all of the other parts needed for my network for about $125.

Nice ecomical package for making cables.
For the price, it's a nice, economical package. The crimper tool cut, stripped, and trimmed the wire and crimped the connector. The ratchet on the crimper let me know just when I'd applied enough force to ensure a solid connection. My 40-meter (132 feet). run tops out at 1 gigabit with flawless data transfer. The cable is unshielded, CAT 5e, 24 AWG solid copper. No home network that relies on CAT cables should be without this package!

Blade that cuts the line during the crimp process doesn't work
The line tester works and the crimper does a good job stripping a cat5/5e cable and crimping the rj45 head. What doesn't work well is the blade that cuts the wire during the crimp process. It worked fine on the first rj45 I crimped, barely worked the second time and by the 3rd attempt it didn't cut anything and I was left trying to cut the lines with a separate wire cutter/razor. It has a screw to adjust the blade and I attempted to get the blade to close but it just can't be adjusted far enough down to cut the wire. So, I know I didn't pay for a high end crimper, but will most likely send this back or will have to avoid passing the wires through the head (which is one of the reasons I bought this was for the passthrough capability simplifying the process). UPDATE: I requested a replacement crimper from Amazon in lieu of returning for a refund and the new crimper has worked without issue to this point. I am upping the review but I can't give this 5 stars due to the issue with the first crimper I received. SECOND UPDATE: The second replacement crimp tool that I received has worked very well and I’ve not seen a repeat so far of the issue I hit with the first one. So maybe, I just got an initial one with a weak/substandard blade. Right now, I am happy with the tools.

Why pay more?
Made up RJ45 connectors no problem. Ok, one problem, I forgot to put the rubber sleeve protector on the wire before I b made up the end, remembered the other end though

Good quality and value for the cost
I only needed to put connectors on a few lines, and this made it easy. The stripper on the tool made it easy to remove the outer insulation, the crimper was easy to use, and the tester was invaluable to verify that the wires were inserted in the connectors correctly.

Works as advertised
I've never attached an end to a cable before. 4 practice tries and all was good. This tool makes it easy to cut, strip, and attach the end. I had to grab a picture from the internet showing me the order of wires, but once I knew the order, the rest was easy. One tip I discovered was to give myself about an inch of wires to play with. This makes it easier to straighten the individual wires for smooth insertion into the end. I'd buy this unit again.
