Great tool produce a lot of heat does a great job

Works perfectly, gets plenty hot for projects like heat shrink, curing, removing glue and such.

Works great on shrink tubing when making wire connectors. Heat is great and right now. The fact that it part of their 20v systems makes batteries interchangeable. It is a lot better than power cords or an open flame. Some may not like that it put out little fan blow.

I have been using the DeWalt DCE530 heat gun mainly for maintenance work, heat shrinking, and some light field applications, and overall it performs well within its portable focus. One of the aspects I like the most is that it heats up quite quickly in its two working positions. You don’t have to wait too long to start working, which is key when you are in operational tasks where time matters. In addition, the ease of use and the fact that it is cordless make it very practical for moving between different points without depending on a power outlet. However, it is important to keep in mind that it does not reach temperatures as high as other more robust corded heat guns. For standard applications such as heat shrink tubing, loosening light adhesives, or spot drying, it works well; but if you need more intense heat or more demanding jobs, it may fall a bit short. In terms of battery life, the performance is acceptable. It is not outstanding, but not deficient either: it allows reasonable work periods, although in prolonged use you will probably need an additional battery to avoid interrupting workflow. As a point for improvement, I consider it could be more economical for what it offers. While you pay for portability and the brand, in terms of cost-benefit there are alternatives that could compete strongly depending on the use you give it. Conclusion: It is a very convenient tool if you value portability, quick heating, and ease of use in the field. Ideal for electrical work and light maintenance. It is not the best option if you need very high temperatures or continuous intensive use. Would I buy it again? Yes, especially as a complementary tool for mobile work, although I would evaluate options depending on the budget. It took 6 hours, but eventually I cooked a 37lb turkey with this thing. I then chucked the turkey off an overpass to an unsuspecting motorist in a convertible and yelled happy thanksgiving. He wasn’t very thankful, however. Probably because it’s March and it messed up his car. Oh well. It was a Miata; so it’s not like things were going great for him to begin with.

👍🏻 Recommended: Despite less airflow than cheaper plug-in guns, this one provides plenty of heat & stands upright to cool off after using. Cheaper plug-in heat guns have much higher airflow & higher temperatures. That being said, sometimes the cheap guns are too hot and blow too much air. This dewalt 20v gun provides plenty of heat for small projects. Less airflow with plenty of heat means you don’t have to worry about burning everything else nearby. You also don’t have to worry about a cooling stand or heat resistant surface to set it down on after using it like you do with plug-in guns. They take forever to cool off & risk burning whatever surface they touch when laying down.

Look I bought this so I didn't have to deal with a cord and being limited to where a cord could reach. And for 90+ % of the things I need a heat gun for it does the job. Just know it isn't going to get as hot ( and nowhere near as hot as on high) as a 110 heat gun. It runs through a battery fairly quickly too (compared to say a drill). Still I'd say well worth the price for many jobs.

As someone who does a lot of electrical work in a marine environment, this DeWalt 20V heat gun has been a game changer. It heats up fast, is compact, and completely eliminates the need for extension cords. I use it regularly for heat shrink connections on my boat, or boat trailer and it performs flawlessly even in damp, salty conditions. The cordless freedom makes tight or remote jobs so much easier, and the build quality is what you'd expect from DeWalt tough and reliable. If you're doing marine or mobile electrical work, this tool is a no-brainer

Works great, used for heat shrink core ID'S within PLC. Brought 18v batteries separately and still produces required heat.

The blower is so slow and heat come soooo late. I am really dissapointed in Dewalt, what were they thinking when designing this?!?? For this application, i will still stick back to wired heat gun instead. This one will head head straight to the "Museum"
