Mega Construx Game of Thrones Daenerys & Drogon

I am VERY impressed with this Black series set from Mega Construx. We finally binged all 8 seasons of Game of Thrones in just under 2 weeks and became huge fans. And when we're big fans of something, we start buying collectibles. I had previously purchased some other smaller Mega Construx sets based on the Call of Duty video game. I also purchased the Alien queen from Aliens. At the time, however, we hadn't watched Game of Thrones yet so I had no idea these GOT sets even existed! This is a huge set when completed and I'm really impressed with Mega's attention to detail. I also like that they incorporate cloth materials into their sets (Drogon's wings.) This is NOT an easy build by any means. Definitely for an experienced builder. But if you're patient and follow the instructions very carefully, you'll be rewarded with a truly awesome piece for your collection. Tons of articulation in Drogon's wings, legs, and tail make this easy to move in all kinds of different poses. The instructions are split into 2 books with each containing approximately 30 pages. The pieces come in 10 separate bags. Even the mini figure of Daenerys is impressive. The articulation of Mega's mini figures blows Lego's out of the water. I paid just over $40 for this set and, at that price, this is an absolute no-brainer. Don't even hesitate if you're a fan of construction sets OR Game of Thrones. This normally sells for close to $70 and even at that price, it's a great set. $40 makes it a must have. I will be purchasing more of Mega's "Black Series" sets in the future. This set made me a fan!

I love this set. The dragon is great, It’s one of my favorite brick built things I’ve ever bought and it out does Lego by leaps and bounds. The wingspan is huge, the bricks are sturdy, It wasn’t hard to put together at all. I really do highly recommend this toy for any Game of Thrones fan or even dragon fan. The only complaint I have is that my Daenerys figure came with some pretty lackluster face printing that rubbed off with a single wipe of my finger. But she barely matters in the grand scheme of the set and I really only bought it for drogon.

As a long time fan of both mega construction and Game of Thrones my interests were peaked but so were my expectations. I can gladly say that it exceeded both. When I purchased this set I was pleased with the look and design and even though the price was a bit high I could tell right away I would be getting more bang for my buck. When I first opened it and saw the mini gig of Daenerys I thought it looked amazing. Very detailed. Once I was done construction Drogon I posed it and put it on a display shelf and It looked awesome. If your a fan of game of thrones or just dragons in general I would recommend this set. The dragons articulation looks realistic and faithful to the show and that was something I would expect them to mess up on but they didn’t. Great set.

Dracarys! Oh I meant to my Sunday morning, because that disappeared before I knew it, vaporized in a long build. This is a long build, taking me about three hours from box opening to final piece setting. Not suited for kids or teenagers without much patience. Again, get organized with Tupperware or containers for each bag’s parts Lots of pieces but the instructions were straightforward. I find it interesting that the wings are fabric, which gives it a certain look, but that’s a good idea to keep them out of the sun as fabric fades. No wants light orange dragon wings. Building this model was better than the Mega Construx Gyarados in that the parts were in sequential order bags, which made for easier part finding. A few parts were in the next noted bag, but still pretty efficient. Some of the pieces took massaging to snap together. This build can be frustrating in that there are a lot of small parts and posing Drogon can be difficult without knocking off some of the accessories. Drogon is also top heavy, which somewhat limits how many poses you can put him in. Also the wings don’t support too much weight. Still, this is a big, detailed model that is very, very showy. The mini Daenerys Targaryen model is largely static aside from the arms. There is a hole in the dragon mouth to mount some kind of fire looking fabric if you’re so inclined. Highly recommended for Game of Thrones fans with patience, but highly NOT recommended for those who are only interested in quick, easy builds.

I'm a long time lego fan, and my son is just now getting to the age where he can start playing with them. I own the original lego dragons, Ninjago dragons, and even some from other brands. This is by far the BEST one you could ever own! It's huge and is very well made. I absolutely intend to buy the other colors after seeing how great this one is.
