This is not an Axe for chopping wood :)
This axe comes in two pieces, so you have to do a bit of work to put it together. Just get rid of the Set Screw, its a stupid idea. Then sand the top of the handle down, carefully, until you get a good solid friction fit. I've also applied a bit of hot glue to help. Now this is not a Wood cutting axe. Its too light and thin, this is for "Soft" targets. For that it is very nice, light and fast.

Good axe
Lightweight but it is practical as it’s good for brush and firewood.

It’s feels like a toy or display item
This axe is not the best axe. it’s more like a display item. Use caution when using it as it does not stay and could seriously hurt someone. It does not have the proper handle to hold its own blade. The blade will come off . I had to sharpen it to make it work and adjusted the handle to make safe. If you’re not a tool person who cannot modify it to work, It’s not worth the time nor entertainment spent correcting it’s flaws the Poor handle design, poor sharpness. It says American but the blade says a different country. A few good things this it’s light weight and balanced. After some modification to make It safe to use i start to do work only for crafting and debarking trees. Money not well spent. My original honest review was removed with excerpt photos showing its flaws. This is an edit, please see photos my original photos showed how poor it was but because it removed I could only show modifications to it to make it work.

Decent axe, but filler packaging was horrible.
The ax is pretty good I wish the handle was a little bit larger but I like very much that the handle is made out of Hickory the head seems to be a good quality. There are some poor reviews on head fitment on to handle in my experience the head was not attached to the handle when I received the item which is no big deal when fixing the head to the handle I just had to make sure that it was seated firmly because it is a friction fit and not a wedge fit. My only critique is I wish the handle was a little bit wider but that is a personal preference rather than a quality or craftsmanship problem. My only real problem was how the seller shipped the item. The item came shipped in a cardboard box with no Packaging and the axe head and axe handle not attached to each other. And my problem with that being since there was no packing material such as bubble wrap or Styrofoam peanuts or anything to that effect the axe head and axe handle were shaking around in this fairly large box which could have caused the axe handle to become very damaged. Moreover because there was so much room within the Box for the items to shake around it is entirely possible that the box could have busted open in the shipping process and the items could have been lost.

If you don't want to wait for the Zombie Apocalypse...you can always just use it camping.
This axe was not designed to be a woodsman's tool but that doesn't mean it wont get the job done. I used it to gather up, de-limb chop, and split (small) fire wood . Then I used it to do some simple carving to make legs and pegs for a saw buck. I also used it to chop up and prep my breakfast in the morning. With a short handle this thing used as a hand axe is pretty handy around camp, just like the Viking Hand Axe is. It is also VERY fun to throw, with any handle length. (they are very easy to make) Is it the best tool out there? probly not, maybe for some. I like to think there is still room to have a little fun while outdoors... not everything needs to be "well in a survival situation the rules are". Its just an axe. REL-AXE. Some of the Cold Steel stuff I have purchased ( dozens of their axes/hawks) has needed work, some where in decent shape. I look on each one as a project, stripped head, toss the set screw, properly fit the handle, blued or plum brown, modified handle etc. Most of them are pretty in-expensive for what you are getting (under 30$)... my only complaint on this one is the price being a little high, but it will drop like the hand axe has in time I figure. Bottom line, if you want something that is primarily for fending off zombies but can also stand up to the rigors of camp life in a pinch its worth a look. Specs on the one I received: Head weight :19.23 oz, cutting edge :7.5" Handle weighed 13.5 oz. Handle length was 29 7/8" This uses the same eye shape as the other Cold steel Tomahawks... so handles are interchangeable.

Not what I was expecting
Got the “Dane Axe” which on cold steels official websites says it’s a tad bigger. Silly me, it’s about the size of a one handed axe. The haft is incredibly skinny and the blade comes quite humorously dull. But hey, it was 40 bucks. Long story short, it’s kinda meh.

Unsafe assembly
Disappointed in the way the axe head and handle stayed in place. When opened the axe head fell down and stuck my hand. I looked and it had the smallest inset Allen screw. 😬

Favorite CS axe!
This is by far my favorite Cold Steel axe thus far. I have had a lot of their tomahawks and other "viking" axes, many I have modified and given to friends as fifts. They are all great but I love this one! It just feels good in the hand, is a great shape, and is the typical tough as nails quality you expect from Cold Steel.

The original shaft is too thin, I replaced it ,now its a nice thing. for the price, it should be good , cost me another 20 euro to replace the shaft 4 stars because I'm a handy man and I could fix it. the seller delivered fast etc.
Y**!
