We had a problem in that our dog would jump up against the front door and swipe the door handle and pull the door open to let himself out. This is great in the summer but not so great in the winter as the door does not shut behind him. We needed something to keep him from being able to activate the lever type door handle. One might ask "why not just keep the door locked"...valid question with a valid answer: We live in europe where a knob to activate the lock on the inside of house doors is not very common, one needs a key to lock/unlock the door even from the inside, this presents an issue as locking the door while in the house is a hazard in case of fire unless the key remains in the door, but if the key is in the door inside, the lock cannot be unlocked from the outside until the key is removed...plus we were concerned that he might bend the key if he got caught on it. This product is boon for us. It effectively allows us to not have to worry about having the key in the door when we are in the house and prevent our 80lb behemoth from opening the door by himself...he tries, but without opposable thumbs he is fracked. The product is easy to install and adheres well in place. We have been using it for 2 weeks and are very happy with it so far. It is low cost, unobtrusive, and an effective solution to our problem. We might experiment with the 2nd one in the package to see if we can remove or disable the feature that requires 2 hand to raise it up from the bottom position, as that is a feature to keep a child from pushing the device up and locking the adult out, we don't have that issue so modifying it for convenience may make it work even better for us...we'll see, as it is not high on the priority list to do. Again, over all happy with this product...it works as advertised.

This safety lock works perfectly! My twin toddlers had figured out how to open the outside door to our deck. I stuck one of these on under the handle and they can’t get the door open anymore. I stuck it on glass and that seems to be working. Not too difficult for an adult to unlock it either. I plan to buy more. Highly recommend if you have lever door handles and kids who get into everything!

This product was exactly what we needed. It's simple to install and isn't as difficult to use as other child protective door knob devices. It looks great and is easy to operate. We have a cat who can open doors - now that we've installed these, he can't and he's mad about it - lol.

Kept my dog from letting himself out the front door. Works pretty good.

I got this because I wanted a temporary solution. The adhesion is very good. Even after I installed it incorrectly the first time and had to move it, it still stayed on very well. It was very easy to install although I screwed up the first time. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the design of it. Notice where the lock ends when you pull it down (to unlock position). Then, imagine turning the handle all the way down. You'll see that the handle and the lock are very close; a couple of times, we've caught our hands in between and it's been very painful. You can work around this if you just install the lock a little bit lower but then in the locked position, the handle can still be pulled down a little bit. Functionally, that's probably ok, but I had installed it up high so that the lever couldn't really be pulled down any at all.

My cat is too smart for her own good. She's just 7 pounds and she puts all her wight into opening my lever doors. She would open the water closet over and over in the night, so I finally gave in and bought these. She tries occasionally and these are perfect for stopping her attempts! Cats can be such toddlers sometimes. Highly recommend because i can just pull up on the lever and use it normally. Not sure about how good it would be for kids if all they have to do is pull up though. Great for pets though!

My son is 4 years old and has down syndrome. He has no fear and loves to explore. We have caught him trying to leave on multiple occasions. We just moved to a place with this type of handle and a very smooth deadbolt that was way to easy to open. We have previously installed a security lock at our old place but it damaged the door pretty bad because we had to drill holes to anchor the lock into the door and the frame. We didn't want to damage the door so after a ton of research, we decided to try out this system. The pack comes with two locks which was awesome because this handle does open both ways.ANYWAYIt sticks very well, it's impossible for even my 6 year old to open, BUT if you have arthritis, you are going to struggle to lock it because you have to push the button and squeeze the sides in at the same time. It's worth it for us.

If your kids are smart enough they will figure it out. My 18 month old figured it out in a week how to get open. If child can reach door handle easily this is not a good option.

Great product! Now my little munchkin can't get into our pantry. Extremely easy to install and use!
