I originally thought this part was dead on arrival and since I tested it outside the return window I couldn't get a new one. Accordingly, I gave the product one star and described how my unit was DoA.Their customer service emailed me personally to offer me a full refund plus a gift card for my trouble, and to express their regret that their customer service wasn't there to help me (I hadn't contacted their customer service since it was outside Amazon's return window).Cue the embarrassment. I later discovered that the 15A fuse connecting my car's charge ports was blown. My charger wasn't dead on arrival, and now lights up and works great after replacing the blown fuse.When I was shopping for car chargers, I paid a lot of attention to power options. This charger is fast enough to charge my phone while using it, which is what I needed. The blue light also helps me find it in the dark, a feature that I initially scoffed at but is actually really useful since I mostly drive at night.I did not accept the refund or the compensatory gift from Maxboost because the error was mine, and the company did not suggest or request that I update my review, conditionally or unconditionally. I rely on Amazon reviews a lot (especially one-star reviews and reviews about DoA products) so I wanted to be sure mine was as accurate as possible.

I know nothing about electronics and computers or chargers for electronics and computers. Fortunately I have sons who look out for me. My son said .... mom, get this. I did. Now I am recharging my cell phone lightening quick and there is a 2nd whatchamacallit if someone else is in the car and needs to recharge their phone. Why it works, I don't know. But, it works and I'm very happy with it.

This charger is the best car charger hands down. I travel a lot for work and so I am always in my car. I have to use my gps for everything so I needed a fast charger that would still charge while my gps was in use. Anyone that knows about google maps or apple maps know that these apps drain your battery in minutes and ordinary chargers only prevent your phone from dying while the App is running, but wouldn’t really add any charge to your phone. I am not a techy person so I can’t speak on the specifications behind this charger, but this charger is on another level. It charges my phone in no time and in whatever weather. It is definitely lightning speed and not to mention durable. I have had this charger maybe a year now and there is no going back. I strongly recommend this car charger.

We need to charge an iPhone and an Android phone in the car. I tried attaching a USB hub to our single-port charger, but the iPhone would not charge at all through the hub. With this Maxboost 2-port charger, the iPhone will charge from the top port, and the Android will charge from either port. I had some trouble figuring out which way is "top" since obviously the charger rotates. I figured out I have to pull the charger out and look at where the word Maxboost is printed-- this is the top. A better design would be if they put an arrow or a word on the flat front where the ports are. This charger works fine to charge both phones at once, and the illuminated ports are helpful.

Only works with ONE USB port at a time .you plug in both ports, neither device will charge.

So its everything it said it would be. 2.4 amps PER PORT with a system check so that it assigns proper charging to the device without overload. I don't know if this brand has cables, but linked up with ANKER cable for my iPhone 7 my phone was charging at about a rate of 1.6% per minute. So from Dead to 100% in about 1 hr!! That's pretty awesome for a car charger. The large end surrounding the ports its textured and makes it a little easier when plugging this in to the electrical port in the car. The LED is not blinding and allows you to see that the charger is plugged in correctly. This charger is light and fits very snug into the electrical port and did not fall out when charging from it. I would recommend this item to friends and family.

5/18/18 Update to this review after having product for 5 months. I previously gave this charger 4 stars, but it stopped charging after 4 months. I contacted the vendor and they sent me a new unit, and waived requirement to return the defective unit and pay about $5 for postage that had a tracking number. So time will tell whether the replacement unit is any better than the first one. But I do give Maxboost credit for replacing the defective unit at no cost to me.Works exactly as it should. The blue light showing you it is live is handy. Charges my iPhone with no problems. There are a couple of issues with the documentation. The box and the User Manual say the Warranty is for one year. But there is a small placard in the box that says, " Attention! Register your Lifetime Warranty within 14 days" and directs you to send an email to [email protected] with the Title of 4.8A Car Charger. It further says, "Disclaimer: Your email will serve as the warranty application". Disclaimer? So I don't know if the warranty is for one year or is a lifetime warranty.Also, the User Manual says the following about the USB port on the top, "Boosted 2.4 output achieves fastest charging speeds for iPad". It doesn't say what "boosted" means (neither does their website), or whether that port is safe for use with smartphones. I assume it is because the charger that Apple includes with the iPad is a standard 2.1 Amp charger that is fine for iPhone charging also. So, Maxboost should:1. Figure out what the warranty is and get the box, the User Manual, and the Warranty placard to say the same thing.2. Clarify in the User Manual what the "Boosted" port does.So, overall fine product with some relatively minor documentation issues.

Very Slow recharge. Waist of money
