The Battery Lock feature goes bad and flashlights become hard to turn on
I bought 1 of these flashlights, liked it and then bought another because the light is very bright. I like them *a lot* less now. There is a real on/off switch at the rear of the flashlight. The "Battery Lock" feature works like the cheap imported flashlights that twist the LED/reflector assembly to turn the flashlight on and off. The battery lock feature has become intermittent on both flashlights now (as in the flashlights don't turn on unless I jiggle the LED/reflector assembly to make electrical contact between the assembly and the case.) This is a great disappointment, particularly in a flashlight that costs about $20.

It works for me
I've admittedly only had it for 3 months, but I'm still lovin it. The beam is as strong as day one, which isn't true of other flashlights I own (many). Very bright but also big and stable when I put it in place (an issue for smaller flashlights). So it's my 'go-to' light for most routine purposes.Admittedly the real question is whether it will be great 2 or 3 years from now, but that's also true for other reviewers.

Great flashlight, when it worked
Have owned for 2 years and haven't changed the batteries (occasional use), till tonight when i unknowing set it face down with it on and drained them. No problem, just pop new ones in and be more mindful. Problem is I can't open the bleeping thing up to change the batteries. Even tried a couple pair of channel locks, as per a forum suggestion. All i ending up doing was scratching the aluminum. Now its a paperweight. Second Coleman light to fail me. Never again. Back to my $10 Energizer light that has never failed, but it does like batteries.

Battery lock wears out, flashlight becomes unusable.
As another reviewer said, the battery lock wears out and makes the flashlight nearly impossible to turn on. Once it is finally on, the slightest nudge makes it turn back off again. It's a bright flashlight, sturdily built as I expect from Coleman, but the battery lock issue makes it practically unusable. Mine is in the trash.
