A Must Purchase for Your Poker Education
I am an avid student of Jonathan Little - owning a number of his books and video packages. I allocate about 75% of my poker training dollars to Jonathan's works. Besides obtaining value for my money, there is an equal consideration on my part for my training time to be spent productively on my poker education - all of Jonathan's materials make the time investment worth it. He blends a mastery of his avocation with an excellent communication style.I bought this book almost immediately when it was released and have spent many hours with it the last month. This book is just EXCELLENT! Jonathan hits his target audience perfectly. He presents the concepts and illustrates them with specific examples. He organizes the material in a very systematic way so it flows as you would think about the game and specific hands. The blending of theory/concept with practicality allows you to learn then implement. He packs a lot of teaching in this book - my style is to read his books once through, highlighting as I read, then go back through the books slowly making myself a "key points" outline. Jonathan's material is a course in itself and treating it as such for study purposes will allow you to maximize his teachings.A book like this took some time to write and he presents the details you need for this level game. Jonathan is most willing to share what he has learned over the years, allowing players like me to move up the learning curve. His videos are also a must if you are a serious student and you can review those and sign-up for his offering announcements at http://jonathanlittlepoker.com/.

Straight forward advice
Jonathan Little has a talent for describing the topic of poker strategy in a simple, easy to follow way. Although this book does not go into extreme in-depth and complex strategies, it touches on many common straight forward situations a player in a small-stakes cash game may encounter. The real value comes from a few select sentences or paragraphs in which Little is able to deliver a nugget of advice that resonates with the reader and gives them a concept to consider when playing that is more general and isn't necessarily for a specific rare occasion.

Finally, a book that confirms my adjustments and more!
I give it a 5 star for the 'intended audience'. If you've read all the 'older' Harrington books, 'Theory' books, etc., can hold your own in a 'home game' but cannot believe you're barely ahead of the others who you know play just 'ok' or badly, this book can really help you. For several years the 'older' books worked for me (basically play tight and be patient). That will still work against like-minded play, but it is boring as hell and you're leaving a LOT on the table. When my win rate slipped, I knew I needed an adjustment, and was getting frustrated while trying different 'plays'. This book basically tells you how to open your game up by being aware of situations and players, then 'playing the players' while still playing solid hands ('solid' for different situations, that is). The book is geared toward playing "exploitable" poker which works VERY well at most small stakes games. It does NOT work against very good players who know how to counteract those strategies and who are "aware" of what's actually going on at the table'. Thing is, if you do play at higher level games, you will be able to adjust (I think. I'm not there yet. ;-) ) I know I'll never play at the higher stakes games anyway, so mastering these concepts work for me. Many of the concepts I already had implemented, but it is good to have a 'framework' to fall back on and it helps to see where improvement is needed. Also, if nothing else, it confirms that the adjustments I already made from 'standard play' to win at low stakes were correct. When you deviate from what you learned as 'correct play' you wonder if it is a leak in your game even when the results seemed positive. It was nice to see in print that I was actually doing it right in many cases ! Yes, there is more variance in this method of play, but not all that much and it works MUCH better and is more fun than just playing ABC poker.

I hate reading. But I really enjoyed reading this book!
This extremely easy to read book is the only poker related book that I’ve been able to read cover to cover. There’s a lot of info to take in, so I highly suggest re-reading the book after your first completion. Applying these fundamentally strong skills to my small stakes $1/2 games has taken me from being a break even or losing player, to profiting over 25 buy-ins this year for $1/2. I bluff more, and often find myself profiting far more on boards that favor my range. I was entirely way too scared to do this before. I truly feel like this book helped me plug that hole. I’ve still got lots to learn but we’re getting there!Don’t sit around debating to buy this book or not. It’s only 25 dollars. You bluff 25 dollars without thinking about it all the time. Don’t think, just buy it!

Great as far as it goes
Really nice basic summary. Good, helpful advice, but do not let yourself stagnate here... Make sure you move on to higher level.

Great for beating 1/1£ $ € +
Another excellent book by Mr Little. The only negative I can think of was that the audio book version wasn't out when I purchased, however I believe this has been rectified so I will give five stars.I have a version of pretty much all his works.

Good read and concepts
The author demonstrates situations and gives insight, which is helpful. Good concepts for novice or beginner players, a lot of play by play ideas

Easy to read, informative, usefull
Some very poker specific language that could be altered or explained in a glossary would be nice. Other than the obvious changes that could be made for the benefit of the reader, it is a good book.
