Its particular about how you ask...
I order two of these. 1 replaced a bluetooth controller. I bought these specifically for the voice control. They are pretty good.Connecting was a little bit of a hassle. If you have trouble, try a different device like a tablet. There are 180 patterns. In reality, it's like 25, with different color combos. I feel like my bluetooth controller had some better patterns. Also, you cant set the pixel count or set how many segments you want. The scenes was a big sell point for me. My other controller couldn't do "fire" or "star" effect. Those are cool. There's a couple more effects.Alexa is picky. You have to say "stars" effect. It doesn't work if you say "star" effect. That's only an example! Also, I cant seems to get alexa to turn the lights white verbally. She beeps like it's working, but the lights dont reach to that command. You can manually control individual controllers, if you have more than one. Verbally, only partially so. I have two, renamed to "the room" and "the bed". If I say "turn the room red", it controls only the room light and turns it red. Same if I say "turn the bed blue". But, you have specifically say "ask fairy light to run rainbow effect" to run effects and it will run on it on both the room and bed lights. Again, in the app you can manually control each. All in all, I bought them specially for the voices controls. It works pretty well for that, but voice control can be picky about how you say commands.

Initial setup issues but good features once set up
This controller was at first difficult to get synced with my wifi using my Samsung phone, but it worked eith my Android tablet and I was able to set it up and registered with my account. With it now working, it's a pretty good addressable LED strip controller with a lot of effects modes. I find it a bit better than the Magic Hone based controllers with its smoother transitions and a number of different modes. The app work fine, and similar to aforementioned Magic Home app. It now also supports Google Assistant which is a plus. Now that I know what's needed for setup, I'd get another one no problem.

Impossible to pair to wifi
Thought this would be cool to play with, and for $9 I figured I would take a chance. I lost that bet! The instructions are horrible, but since I am an IT Pro, I figured I could make it work. The instructions say to use the Fairynest APP on an Android (no support for iOS!), connect Android to 2.4GHz wifi, put the SP501E in pairing mode by pressing the power button until attached LED's flash white, and wait for pairing to complete. It never completes, just gives an error. Oh well, save your $9 and go buy some beer!

Works great!
I've been buying a bunch of these controllers for my home smart lighting from AliExpress. While most of them work, one of them was overheating so I decided to just buy one more from Amazon for a replacement. It works great, no overheating.

Defective? Or junk circuitry?
Was a pill to get paired to wifi. I had to go manual route to get it to configure. Post that, it gets hot and wifi disconnects after 2 to 3m. If I unplug, let it cool it will reconnect for again 2 to 3m. Does this on both 12 and 24v power sources. Because of this made initial setup far more confusing. I've requested a new one as I'm guessing it's defective. I'll report back.

Doesn’t pair
Save your money. This doesn't work with IOS Can not get the system to pair with my android device. Which means I can’t get it to work for the main purpose I purchased it for and that was Alexa voice control! $18 blown lesson, learned, and one let down kid.

Bluetooth died after less than a month
While its easier than writing a FastLED Arduino script, its no good when it wont even show up on bluetooth
