Grump: The (Fairly) True Tale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves

My 10 year old son has loved all of the books in this series. I would catch him staying up late at night reading these books. Your kids will love them too!

Almost 300 pages and I read it in 2 days! Cutest book ever, a little sad but I really loved it. Makes me want to rewatch Snow White!!

My 12 year old started reading this book as part of a Homeschool Tween Book Club read. Let me say it is great to see him so engaged in a book with out the comic book layout. He was laughing out loud a few times. Wont tell me too much about the book as he says I have to read it myself. lol. He asked me one day if his schooling could just be to read this book. He wanted to just read it until he finished it. He would give this book 5 stars so I'm doing it for him. P.S. I also hopped online and bought the other books in the set A.S.A.P. He has read them all. On of his favorites to date. Thank you!

It's hard to find chapter books my 9yo will agree to - she still often prefers picture books - but she loves all the ones in this series. So far we've read Rump, Red and Grump and she always begs for "just one more chapter" - hope more will be written soon!

I love using fractured fairy tales with my students and this one was fantastic! I used this with an above-level grade 5 group and it was perfect. The reading level (according to Accelerated Reader) is only a 4.6, however, there are so many above level vocabulary words that I truly think the book is more complex than that. The students really enjoyed this book.

Shurtliff writes wonderfully imaginative retellings and “backstories” to well-loved fairytales. I’ve read all 4 of this kind of book from her (Grump, Red, Rump and Jack). In each one I found myself giggling at the antics of the characters and excited to share the stories with young readers I know. These books are perfect for middle to older elementary students, or those that are older and love a great story.

I decided to order this book after reading a blog review. It came super fast with free shipping as I didn't spend the extra to order faster shipping.Some unusual twists on dwarves in general and the 7 dwarves in particular. I finished reading it within 4.5 hours after I opened the book. Would have been faster, but I took some breaks. Easy to read and great for young and not so young.

This book is part of a series that is fun and engaging for boys and girls...my 8 year old grandson has read all but 1 in this series...as he is currently working his way through Grump 👍🏻..and has loved each one!...Reading is so important and finding something fun to catch their interest is awesome!

I purchased this book to bring to my Book Club. I thought it was well written and it was an interesting take on the Fairy Tale Snow White. I read it to my grandchildren and my husband as we drove in our car on our holiday. They all enjoyed it even my husband. It was entertaining and I wanted something light for my fellow Book Club members to read.
