Necessary if you cut with an angled saw blade or dado and want to use the Incra sled...
The Incra miter sled, coupled with their V100HD miter gauge, has become a much used accessory for my table saw. In fact, my sliding miter saw hasn't even been used in the last two weeks. There are only two big drawbacks...inability to handle long boards and inflexibility with regards to the angle of the saw blade. A replacement panel, along with a second miter bar, solves the second problem.Setting up for an angled blade is easy. First, make sure that the blade tilts away from the main body of the miter sled. (Otherwise, you risk running the blade into the miter gauge and, worse, your fingers.) Set the blade to the desired angle (I recommend using a digital angle gauge), install this on the sled in place of the normal panel and cut to size. Install the miter bar on the cutoff piece and cut that to size. When done, you'll end up with a zero clearance miter for whatever angle you choose. You'll need to purchase a separate piece for every blade angle, but the odds are that there are only one or two that are frequently used.Incidentally, additional panels are also necessary if you use the miter sled with different saw blade thicknesses or with a dado set and want to maintain a zero-clearance kerf in the sled. It's pretty easy, though, to go off the deep end and end up with a dozen different sets of sled panels. Incra may love that (and you should also check pricing on their site), but your wallet won't...at some point, it makes sense to fab them yourself.

High quality at a high price
Not much to say. The panel is identical to the original - with the obvious exception that it hasn't been cut yet! 8^) I bought a new (to me) saw, so I need a new panel. Once I have installed a new blade, I'll cut the panel and swap it in for the old one. Each saw & blade combination needs its own panel. My only gripe is that the price seemed a bit steep. It slaps $35 onto the price of a new (& different) blade. At least you're getting Incra quality. It just occurred to me that there is a 50% chance that the cut is narrower, and if so, I could just trim off the old one. I'm not sure, but before YOU buy, you might want to give that some thought!Happy woodworking!JT

Just like new again
I upgraded from a Dewalt table saw to a SawStop and wanted to continue using my Miter Express so I found this on Amazon and it is back up and running in no time.
