Charles Faudree Details

Love this book. Very appealing photography and nicely organized with the designer's thoughts and suggestions. Although I'm personally not inclined toward quite so many items displayed on, say, a coffee table (no room left for practical use)the book's visual format is so appealing, I find myself looking through it often.

Other design books can offer the broad brush strokes for the larger elements of room design. Charles Faudree Details provides the icing on the cake, the decorating techniques which pull it all together, ties up loose ends, showcases special collections. Charles has a brilliant method of layering in accessories and treasured items which are described and beautifully illustrated here. He tackles various elements in a coordinated approach by highlighting mantels, walls, tablescapes and fabrics. The section on fabrics alone is educational and inspiring. I constantly refer back to this book which can be applied to all decorating styles, not just the country french for which he is well known.

A must for Faudree fans! Like his other books, Details is a visual feast. Faudree was the master of Country French decorating, but his decor went beyond a single style. If you love Tuscan decor, English Country, Traditional, or Cottage, Faudree's work will be an inspiration. I have every one of his books. Details, and Country French Legacy (by Jennifer Jordan, who photographed his homes, and published Legacy after Faudree's death) both currently grace my coffee table. Details is probably his finest work, but is best enjoyed after his other books have laid the groundwork.

I was so excited to get this book! I’ve been wanting it for years and finally decided to get it. It did not disappoint! Beautifully illustrated photos ! Tons of decorating ideas!

Content very educational but unfortunately the quality of photography was sub par .

Always loved his books. Yes it’s French style but he mades it easy to live with and be able to work other treasures and style into it also.

Charles Faudree Details is a great book for those interested in interior design...one of the best and I have a bookshelf full of interior books. I expected beautiful photos of beautiful interiors and the Faudree/Jordan team delivered. BUT Faudree's explanation of the elements of interior design were unexpected but again delivered in brief, sustainable prose. Terrific photos of beautiful rooms overlain with understandable, defining lessons in design...this book is a big hit for the Faudree/Jordan team. Steve Kelley
