Upon opening the package lots of debris fell out. I decided to wipe down the pencils with some alcohol because it looked gross. So much wood chipped off, all I could imagine was the kids using the pencils and all of that being on their hands🤮.After wiping them down,I then set them out to dry.I noticed we did have all the colors of the rainbow, and that's what is important so they can actually color.But this will make a mess so they have to use it at the table. Makers needed to whittle down some of the pencils more, you can tell in the pictures which ones will cause problems. A few of them look smooth.I am worried after reading reviews that there won't be much color to them, especially since they arrived barely sharpened . We will see.

Great for a novelty item!
We purchased for our camping-themed VBS. The pencils worked just fine. We didn’t have a need to sharpen them, so I am not sure how well they sharpen. However, as a novelty item, they were just as pictured!

These are just wooden sticks, not pencils!
We purchased them for plastic-free birthday party bags. When we went to sharpen one, there was no led tip left in it. So its now just an expensive pointy stick, pretty useless as a pencil.They also didn't come in different colours, just standard pencil grey.
