Dungeons & Dragons Spellbook Cards: Creature & NPC Cards (D&D Accessory)

These cards make my life as a DM infinitely easier. No more scribbling stats out ahead of time, flipping through a book, or printing pages out before. These cards make running a game a complete dream, from erasing the most tedious aspects of prep, to making it so much easier to DM on the fly. They do not all have artwork on the back.

Adds a bit of easy to casting. Great tool for first time spell casters and nice for a DM to be able to hand out.

I got these cards for quick stats on animals and NPC's. I got exactly what I wanted. People are angry that not all cards have illustrations. But most of the specific creatures have illustrations. The ones that do not have artwork are mostly generic creatures and NPC's. For example, a guard. What kind of illustration should be put on the card? What is the guard's race? What organization (if any) does the guard belong to? Putting a picture of an elven guard to a cult hideout won't work if your NPC is a human guard to a noble family. Same with animals like lions. People know what lions look like. And putting an illustration of a male lion on the card isn't helpful if you are dealing with a female lion. If you really need a picture of a lion, you can easily find one of your own that you like, print it off, and stick it to the card. Don't be turned off of these cards just because they don't all have pretty pictures. If you need quick stats, these cards are what you're looking for.

Generally good quality and more durable than normal cards. Quite useful for running a campaign and keeping things organized so you're not constantly checking books or websites, but like what many other reviewers have said, it's disappointing that most of the cards don't have any artwork. I bought the Monster Cards pack, and every single card had artwork. In this pack less than half do. It was very confusing and it makes finding the card you need and remembering what cards you have a little bit more difficult. Just with they'd added that little extra flare for the players, especially because this pack was 20 dollars on Amazon. I also wish some of the cards were a bit bigger, but about 80% of them are the smaller size. Over all it's a decent value for what it costs, but it could just a use a few more bells and whistles to be better.

Bought them for my husband's micro DM kit. He loves them. He has been building a smaller set up, trying to find ways to make his bag lighter when he goes out to play with his campaign group and this was the perfect addition!

So I was on the fence with getting these because of the price and the fact I would need to eventually get updated ones. I was looking at other companies who do stat cards and they where pricey and found out that they didn’t have all of the monsters. So I got them and I am not mad at all. It has all the needed stats and it helps planning go so much easier. It helped eliminate or cut down on clutter at the table (won’t need to have the monster Manuel). Only drawback is that it doesn’t give the full characteristic value just the modifier so spells thar lower a characteristic cause will be tricky but other than that it’s a good price and I recommend for any dm to have it.

As a DM, I have found myself in a pinch during battle. When the PC's throw natural 20s, the great challenge I had set for them suddenly turns into a rout. So I have already gone to this source for quick monsters to throw into the fight. In planning a fight, I like having these ready because it is easy to move the card on the table as the mini of the PC moves but is still engaged (we game via cam/mic). I can have different types of "monsters" assigned to different characters because my cleric can handle something much stronger than my Halfling Rouge. I have all the pertinent data right there at my fingertips. It beats flipping pages in the MM that can break up the nice flow of a fight.

I don't understand all the bitching over missing art. These monsters are the thugs and dogs and Hawks and minor things that don't even have pictures in the books! So why are you going to complain when a monster that you're going to reskin anyway doesn't have a picture that you're not going to use? These cards are well-made they arrived in a timely fashion and they will be just as useful as the other cards I bought. I did not buy these cards for pretty pictures. I bought them to keep myself from having to flip through monster manual pages and bookmark things and take up space on my table. They are great. Even as just a collection of stat blocks, these cards are still worth their money. This is a game of imagination. Use it.

I see a lot of other reviews here complaining about how people expected all the cards to be illustrated, but the product description does indicate that only about a third of them are. The ones with illustrations are well done, it would have been nice if they all had art on them, but they're well-made, there's a good assortment of creatures and NPC's, you get your money's worth.

Contrairement aux autres sets que j'ai en ma possession de la même série, celle ci n'est qu'en 1/3 illustrée. Dommage pour un set de cartes qui devait m'aider à illustrer une campagne pour débutants.

As a GM these cards are great. Having your monsters laid out all at once during an encounter means you don't have to have lots of pdfs and/or books open around you during a fight. Or several page markers in a book. The cards are wrote in a form of shorthand however so only the modified is wrote for the stats so this can sometimes mean checking the book if something modifies a stat. No lore is wrote on the cards either. I have seen a lot of reviews complaining that not all the cards have art on. The only cards with art are the ones that have art in the book. I wasn't too worried about this but I can see why this has been a gripe for some people. Overall a great addition for a GM.
